Sand Creek
Contemporary houses along well-maintained streets
Sand Creek’s wide and tree-lined streetscapes are primarily newer contemporary builds from the early 2000s. Well-paved sidewalks flow from one subdivision to the next, providing great walkability throughout the neighborhood and to nearby parks. The most common housing styles include Mediterranean, often with stucco or barrel tile roofs, and Craftsman, with columns and covered front porches. The homes sit close together on tighter lots, and most feature two-car garages and solar panels on their roofs. Home prices range from $700,000 to $1.5 million.Public schools with special academy programs
Students may attend Pioneer Elementary School, followed by William B. Bristow Middle School, both of which get a B-plus from Niche. The A-rated Heritage High School offers special academies in health, technology, public services and arts and entrepreneurship.Walking trails and multiple community parks
The neighborhood’s Miwok Park is a sprawling community green space with a playground and picnic areas. Plus, the Miwok Trail, a paved 7.2-mile walking and running path, runs through it. It extends to nearby subdivisions and into King Park, an off-leash dog park with dedicated areas for smaller and larger dogs. Appaloosa Park is located on the neighborhood's western side and is a small recreational space with a playground and open grassy green fields. Blue Goose Park is a little over a mile away, offering more outdoor recreation, including flower-shaped water sprinklers for kids, contemporary playscapes and shaded resting areas.Local shopping centers and Historic Downtown Brentwood dining
Sand Creek has several large shopping centers, including The Streets of Brentwood. This popular open-air mall features an AMC Brentwood 14 movie theater, trendy fitness centers and many retail stores, including DSW and Express. It also has a few eateries, including Attraversiamo, which serves farm-to-table Italian food with California influences. Next door is Vine and Grain, a wine bar featuring hand-crafted cocktails and elevated American cuisine. The Sand Creek Crossing shopping center is just across the road, with numerous big box stores, including Ross, T.J. Maxx and Home Goods. It also has a Raley’s for grocery items and eateries, including Sun Kitchen Asian Bistro. The Slatten Ranch Shopping Center resides in the northern portion of the neighborhood, with WinCo Foods for groceries and Target. Historic Downtown Brentwood is a few miles south for even more local restaurants, including highly rated spots like MJ’s Downtown Café, known for its classic American lunch and breakfast items.Near State Route 4 and Tri-Delta Transit bus stops
State Route 4 sits along the neighborhood's west side, which connects to Interstates 580 and 680 and eventually San Francisco, about 50 miles west. According to Morris, rush hour can make commuting to San Francisco or Silicon Valley challenging. “But if you work off hours, say 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., then you’d probably be okay. Or if you’re hybrid — the commute probably wouldn’t be too terrible,” Morris says. While public transportation is limited throughout the area, Tri-Delta Transit buses run along Sand Creek Road and Fairview Avenue. The Antioch BART Station, 7 miles away, is the closest option for light rail travel, while the San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport is about 53 miles south.Downtown community festivals and local library events
Sand Creek is less than a few miles from downtown Brentwood for many annual community events. Oktoberfest is one of the largest fall gatherings, packing in around 15,000 visitors each year, with festive activities and German pub fare and brews. The Winter Wine Walk and Tasting Tour is in late November and features local Bay Area wines and food from downtown businesses. The Brentwood Library is close to Sand Creek and hosts numerous free events, from book clubs and magician shows to holiday socials and an arts and crafts fair.
