Cherokee Gardens
Suburban Neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky
Jefferson County 40206, 40207
A wide selection of historic homes
Homes date from the early 1900s to about 1955 and are known for their vintage designs and serene natural surroundings. Architectural styles run the gamut from Cape Cods to ranch styles to Classical and Colonial Revivals, most of which are brick constructions. Decorative gardens accent many of the large front yards, and some have cobblestone walkways reminiscent of the English countryside. “The area is really beautiful," says Steve Minor, a Realtor with RE/MAX Properties East. Housing inventory is relatively low, and homes tend to sell faster than the national average. "Elizabethan homes there are particularly popular, and many have been kept in a family for generations," says Minor. Most homes in Cherokee Gardens are priced from about $450,000 to $800,000, though some large estate homes can sell for upwards of $1.5 million.Educational options close to home

The park’s greenery abounds over nearly 400 acres and includes the “Scenic Loop,” a 2-mile trail accommodating vehicles and pedestrians on separate pathways. Folks can admire the rolling hills, meadows and woodlands of the Beargrass Creek valley or play some sports by heading to the park's baseball and soccer fields.Local dining on Lexington Road

Another popular option in the area is Game. Amidst a rustic wooden interior, this restaurant serves salads, meats and specialty burgers made from exotic animals. The menu ranges from frog legs to a burger made from kangaroo.Social events at the Whitehall estate
