The Spanish word "potencia" translates to "power" in English, so that's why an announcer in Cuba reportedly dubbed former New York Mets leftfielder Yoenis Céspedes "La Potencia" for his hitting prowess.

La Potencia II, Céspedes’ 378-acre ranch in Port St. Lucie, Florida, is all about power, specifically horsepower and firepower.

The property hit the market with an asking price of $30 million at the end of June. Julian Johnston and Lina Agosto of The Corcoran Group have the listing.

The former Met bought the property in 2016, the year after his explosive first season with the Mets, for $14.9 million, according to county property appraiser records. The home is 20 minutes from Clover Park, the team’s spring training stadium.

Céspedes, 39, left baseball after the 2020 season, though he has since announced his intention to return.

Céspedes had the six-bed, four-bath, 15,785-square-foot main house Céspedes built in 2018. The two-story home at 16675 C-24 Canal Road includes a function room off the kitchen for hosting gatherings, and the back patio comes with a heated pool and spa, as well as another hangout space with a bar and kitchenette.

But it's the outbuildings that give La Potencia II its character as an untamed Florida retreat that connects visitors and the outdoors.

One of the slugger's pursuits was hunting the wild game on the property. "He hunted deer. He hunted boar all over that place," Johnston said.

In addition to hunting animals, Céspedes also rode them. The property comes with a 12-horse stable and training yards.

Horses aren’t the only kind of speed Céspedes made room for. The sports press has well documented the slugger’s penchant for exotic cars. Hence, the property includes a four-car detached garage and a 1,428-square-foot carport. "You can park maybe 10 cars in that carport," Johnston said.

Of course, Céspedes couldn't omit the sport that bought him the house, so the property offers a 4,510-square-foot gym with a batting cage.

Watch out. The automatic pitcher is set for a pro.

"I turned it on, thinking I could do it. I've seen it on TV," Johnson said. The balls flew past him before he could even swing. "I couldn't hit anything."

The building also contains Céspedes' private barbershop, perhaps to keep his soul patch sharp.
