About 20 miles northwest of Downtown Pittsburgh, Carnot-Moon is a little suburb between the Ohio River and Pittsburgh International Airport. Whether they come to the area by land, air or water, residents describe this tucked-away community on the edge of the city as a quiet, tight-knit place to raise kids. “I’ve lived everywhere from San Diego to D.C., but this is such a great little area to grow up in,” says Albert Quaye, an area native who serves on the township’s board of supervisors. Mary Jo Wise, another member of the Moon Township Board of Supervisors, agrees: “It’s a very family-oriented place, so there are lots of parents who make that effort to connect, whether that’s through school activities or youth sports.” Highly rated Moon Area Schools, robust nearby parks and direct Interstate 376 access all make Carnot-Moon a good fit for many Pittsburgh-area families.
