Tucked between farm fields and quiet county roads, Delphos is a small city of about 7,000 people in Northwest Ohio. The town got its start as a port town along the Miami-Erie Canal. The agricultural community is split between Allen and Van Wert counties and offers a laid-back, country vibe within a 30-minute drive of Lima. Once people plant roots in town, it’s rare for them to leave, according to Shaun Richardson, a Realtor with Exp Realty who grew up in Delphos. Many residents grew up in town and typically return, but if they don't come back, “It’s because they have to, like they got a job or someone passed away,” Richardson says. Kids can start at A-minus-rated Franklin Elementary School before heading to Jefferson Middle School, graded B-plus. Jefferson High School receives a C-plus.
