Why Live in Enon

Enon is a small village in the southwest Springfield suburbs. Residents are also within easy commuting distance of both central Dayton and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. For many years, the village was probably best known as the headquarters of the Speedway gas station and convenience store chain. However, following its acquisition by Marathon, the company relocated its headquarters to Texas in 2021. “It’s definitely the sort of place where everybody knows everybody,” says Realtor and lifelong area resident Theresa Jennings of Re/Max Victory. “There’s a real sense of community. People who move in here hardly ever move out.” Midcentury ranch-style homes make up most of the local inventory in Enon, but there are also a number of larger contemporary homes scattered around the community. Homes sell for anywhere from $180,000 to $430,000. Yards in the area are more spacious than in neighboring towns like Fairborn. “You get more room to stretch your legs than a lot of places,” says Jennings. “But it’s still easy to get to town whenever you want.” Enon is part of the Greenon Local School District, which has a C-minus grade on Niche.
