With multiple bus routes and major thoroughfares, Campbell Park is a well-connected neighborhood in the heart of Anchorage. “It’s centrally located in Anchorage. It has an easy commute to the hospital and the university,” says Janis Tolbert, a Realtor with Herrington and Company who has sold homes in the neighborhood. “It’s an easy commute to downtown and grocery stores.” The neighborhood is located just east of Seward Highway, connecting it to Downtown Anchorage. The University of Alaska Anchorage and Providence Alaska Medical Center are nearby, offering easy access to medical care, jobs and education. While this easy access might be the main draw for homebuyers in Campbell Park, as its name implies, there is also plenty of scenic outdoor recreation around the neighborhood.
Exploring natural Alaskan scenery within the neighborhood
The neighborhood’s namesake park is a large green space on East 48th Avenue featuring a mix of developed and natural activities. Residents can bring the kids for some time on the inclusive playground or launch a kayak for a float down Campbell Creek. The 7.5-mile Campbell Creek Trail meanders through the park, offering room for walking, running or biking. Cross-country skiers also use the trail in the winter. Several viewpoints along the creek allow visitors to see salmon spawning during the summer. Bancroft Park is another green space in the neighborhood along the Campbell Creek Trail, home to several soccer fields, walking trails and fishing platforms. The Campbell Creek Trail continues east through the neighborhood into Far North Bicentennial Park, a 4,000-acre park that is the largest in the city. This expansive natural area has miles of trail and is popular year-round for activities like hiking and skiing. Visitors should be aware that bears frequent the area around the creek during salmon spawning season. The Campbell Creek Science Center is an educational facility in Far North Bicentennial Park that has programs such as field trips, guided hikes and lectures.

Anchorage has been a great place to live in. It was a place to feel safe and feel at ease, but recently with the spike of crime and violence, it is a place that I'm not sure if I would feel safe anymore. There are crimes involving violence almost every night.
