The highly rated Mansfield Independent School District

South East Arlington is zoned to the A-rated Mansfield Independent School District. “For me, it all revolves around schools,” Thor says. “I tell clients when they say, ‘I don’t care about schools,’ I say, ‘You do because one day you’re going to be selling your home, and if the schools aren’t schools where you’d want to be sending your child, think about what the next buyer’s going to think of that.’” Students in the neighborhood can attend Janet Brockett Elementary for preschool through fourth grade, Icenhower Intermediate School for fifth and sixth grade, James L. Coble Middle School for seventh and eighth and Timberview High School for ninth through twelfth. Janet Brockett, James L. Coble and Timberview get A-minus grades from Niche, and Icenhower Intermediate gets a B-plus. Niche ranks Timberview High School in its top 20 standout high schools in the DFW area. Students at Timberview High School can participate in extracurricular activities such as choir, cheerleading and JROTC.

Arlington’s athletic fields, dog parks and trails

South East Arlington has many parks, offering ample opportunities for residents to spend time outside. Harold Patterson Sports Center is a 135-acre green space with baseball, softball and soccer fields, where many Arlington kids grow up playing sports. Cravens Park is a large outdoor space with a playground, walking trails, tennis courts and baseball fields. Tails ‘N Trails Dog Park has a fenced-in play space for dogs and wooded trails for a more natural feel. Fish Creek Linear Park is a paved trail along Fish Creek that welcomes walkers, runners, cyclists and rollerbladers. Kids play soccer at Webb Community Park, which also has a playground and a basketball court.

Ample shopping and dining are available in South East Arlington, which has two Walmarts, an ALDI and several international grocery stores. On the neighborhood’s north end, Cooper Street Antique Mall hosts a collection of antique dealers with individual booths selling furniture, art and other collectible items. South East Arlington is a car-dependent community along Interstate 20 and the 360 Tollway, 17 miles southeast of Fort Worth and 25 miles southwest of Dallas. Arlington On-Demand is a public shared ride service available to residents, providing transportation around the city and to the Trinity River Express CentrePort Station, a commuter rail station in Fort Worth.
