Neighborhood in Arlington, Texas
Tarrant County 76006
The master-planned Viridian community could be your next home, but with the Spanish-style architecture and countless activities, it’ll feel like an endless vacation at a luxury beach resort. “It’s full of amenities. The neighbors are really nice. They keep everything nice and clean. It’s a nice, quiet, quaint community. It’s kind of like a town all itself inside a city,” says Kimberly Vo, owner and broker of Kimberly Adams Realty. Located in the northern end of Arlington, this lakeside community has everything you need to live an active, luxurious lifestyle.
Several custom builders have helped the Viridian community grow over the years. The homes they’ve built in the neighborhood include modern traditional brick houses, farmhouses with metal roofs and exposed beams, and Tudor-inspired homes with steep, swooping roofs. Most houses in the community are built close together on streets lined with young trees. Rear-entry garages offer privacy and security while keeping the front of the houses looking neat. The neighborhood also includes town houses and a section dedicated to residents aged 55 and up.
You’ll find larger luxurious homes close to the water. These homes include Mediterranean and Spanish-style mansions with stucco siding and red tile roofs. These lots are more expansive than others in the neighborhood and often include backyard pools. In the middle of the lake is The Island Estates, an island where custom luxury homes are currently being built.
Viridian has a wide range of prices when it comes to homes. You can find a three-bedroom town house for $400,000. Three-bedroom single-family homes range from $500,000 to $600,000. The waterfront mansions are in the million-dollar range, with some coming on the market near $2 million. Homebuyers should also be prepared to pay a higher property tax than in other parts of Arlington. Viridian has a total property tax of about 2.9 percent.
Students in the neighborhood will attend Viridian Elementary School, a highly rated school that receives an A overall from Niche. The school opened in 2014 and is a Schools of Choice campus, offering programs in Spanish Immersion and world languages, including Mandarin, Hindi and Arabic. The school also offers a Core Knowledge Pre-K program, which integrates music, art and literature to prepare children for kindergarten.
Residents of Viridian have access to several amenities that make every day feel like a vacation. Head to the Lake Club to spend time by the water on a warm summer day. This 6-acre facility features five pools, a pavilion and a small amphitheater for residents to enjoy. The nearby Lakeview Event and Conference Center is a state-of-the-art venue for weddings, corporate retreats and other events.
Watersports enthusiasts can head to the Viridian Sailing Center and try their hand at sailing on the lake. You can buy an annual pass for the center, which offers sailing courses and summer lessons. Members get to participate in holiday parties, happy hours and regattas on the lake. If you prefer staying on dry land, grab your racket and head to the tennis center. The neighborhood offers private instruction and year-round league play on four lighted courts overlooking the water. Several small community parks allow residents to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Several trails nearby connect the neighborhood to River Legacy Park, a 1,031-acre park with miles of wilderness trails to explore.
Head across North Collins Street to the Waters Edge for a mix of shopping and dining options. You can start your weekend mornings at Lac Bleu Brunch Café, a French-inspired restaurant with a bright, modern interior. Locals enjoy the omelets, croissants and waffles from this chic spot. Piranha Killer Sushi down the street is a local chain serving sushi, Asian fusion entrees and an extensive cocktail menu with more than 20 martini variations. You can stock up on weekly groceries at the local Tom Thumb. North Collins Street runs through the neighborhood and gives you an easy drive into downtown Arlington and to Interstate 30, taking you anywhere you need to go throughout the Metroplex.
