Del Mar Parkway
Historical ranch-style homes
The grid-like residential streets of Del Mar Parkway are home to modest sidewalks, which share space with cars found parked along the road. Mature bur oak and evergreen trees are found in the modest front yards of the community, typically found along the sidewalks. One-car driveways lead to the ranch-style and occasional bungalow homes that make up the community. Most of these homes have light exteriors, feature wooden fenced-in backyards and sit somewhat close to one another. Almost all of the homes were constructed throughout the 1950s and range in price from $300,000 for a two-bedroom home to upwards of $600,000 for a larger five-bedroom house.Enjoy dinner along East Colfax Avenue
Picking up groceries can be done conveniently at the neighborhood King Soopers located in the neighborhood’s southeast corner. Retail options are also close by at Town Center at Aurora, which sits along South Abilene Street, a 2.5-mile drive away. Dinner can be had at a local favorite, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, best known for its falafel, feta fries and other Greek fare. La Cueva Restaurant is also located along East Colfax Avenue, where its popular margarita can be enjoyed alongside traditional Mexican dishes.Firework shows at Del Mar Park
Many residents head to Del Mar Park on the Fourth of July. “The park does a great firework show,” says Jim Gibson, a real estate agent with HomeStar Realty who grew up in the area. Not far is the Aurora Municipal Center along East Alameda Avenue, which hosts several events throughout the year for the surrounding community, including a Holiday Tree Lighting during the holiday season.Community involvement at Aurora Central High
Sitting on the east side of the Del Mar Parkway is Boston K-8 School, which has received a C-minus from Niche and is where young students can begin their educational journey. Older students will head to Aurora Central High School, which Niche has given a C grade. The home of the Trojans places a focus on student involvement through a variety of clubs and athletic offerings, as well as community partnerships in the form of job shadowing, mentorship and community networking. The art instillations of Nome Park
Residents spend time outside at Nome Park, which is home to paved walking trails, outdoor gym equipment and art installations throughout. During the summer, residents flock to Del Mar Park, which is home to a spacious playground and the Family Aquatic Park, which has waterslides and a splash pad to pair. “Locals have been going to Del Mar Park for years and have always enjoyed it,” says Gibson.Commuting from Del Mar Parkway
Commutes into downtown Denver are quick, thanks to the neighborhood’s location. Those spending a day in the city or making daily trips for school and work can do so via a quick 6-mile drive starting on East Colfax Avenue. Travelers can get to the Denver International Airport on Peña Boulevard, which is an 18-mile drive northwest. Close to home are the University of Colorado Hospital and the Community College of Aurora, both of which are less than a mile from the neighborhood.
