Walking trails and sidewalks are heavily used in this Colorado suburb, where pristine lawns are just a slice of the beautiful landscape surrounding the neighborhood. “Westlake Village is definitely a place that is set up for folks who like the outdoors,” says Teresa Lomax, a Realtor with over six years of experience in the Denver Metro Area. “And the neighborhood has all sorts of amenities. You are close to shopping, parks and schools while equidistant from Boulder and Denver.”

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind home, you will find it here. “Westlake Village has a mix of all kinds of house styles and different sizes,” Lomax says. “Every home has its own unique flavor, which is what makes the area fun. All the houses don’t look exactly alike.” Most homes were built between the mid-70s and '80s, and you’ll find quaint town houses, small minimalistic ranches, contemporary arts and crafts-influenced new builds, and colorful split levels among the mix. The neighborhood's median price for real estate is $510,000 but ranges from condo living for $130,000 to spacious homes with 2,000 square feet valued at $665,000.

Students in Westlake Village can attend Adams 12 Five Star Schools, which Niche ranks as the seventh best school system in the Denver region. Centennial Elementary School covers kindergarten through fifth school, whereas Westlake Middle School serves sixth through eighth grade. Legacy High School is recognized by the Colorado Department of Education as a high-achieving and high-growth school, with an A- overall Niche rating. The Legacy 2000 Program focuses on student-driven study, job shadowing, and STEM internships and is open to freshmen through seniors.

Nature and recreation abound in this suburb, and residents can access at least four parks, miles of trails and acres on acres of wide-open spaces. Lomax says the community is surrounded by walking trails constantly abuzz with foot traffic. West Lake Park, Willow Park, Cottonwood Park and Trails Park offer just a taste of the local pockets of greenery. Nearby Broomfield Commons Open Space Park provides residents with over 230 acres of lush meadows to take in the breathtaking Colorado landscape. The site is also home to the Paul Derda Recreation Center and the 80-acre park and sports complex. Looping trails cover less than 3 miles at the Commons, but if you’re looking for something more challenging, it’s only a 20-minute drive to the foothills of the Rockies.

When it comes to restaurants in the area, Lomax says: “There’s a little something for everyone. You can take your pick from fast food to fine dining.” Pick up a quick bite at Subway and Sonic Drive-In, imbibe in craft beers at Frolic Brewing Company, or indulge in classic American fare with a Colorado twist at North Side Tavern. Supermarkets and additional restaurants are close by. “The King Soopers grocery store is just down the block,” Lomax says. “And there’s no lack of eating or entertainment at the Orchard Town Center nearby.” The nearby shopping center houses local dining staples and department stores, including Macy’s, Nordstrom Rack and JCPenney. If your retail therapy still hasn’t been fulfilled, head to the Denver Premium Outlets for deals at Nike, Michael Kors, Vans and more.

For a change of scenery, thoroughfares US-36 East and I-25 connect residents to neighboring cities: “The subdivision is centrally located with easy access to Boulder and Denver,” Lomax says. Or, for a complete change in scenery, take the 30-minute drive to Denver International Airport or Boulder Municipal Airport to catch a flight out of town.
