Embraced by the splendor of the Front Range and its breathtaking vistas, Piney Creek is an enclave of elegance, community and nature’s allure. Located in the heart of Centennial, Colorado, this master-planned community includes about 1,850 homes and nearly 60 acres of public open space that truly captures the essence of Colorado living. With tree-lined streets throughout the neighborhood, homes in Piney Creek are architectural masterpieces filled with diversity, from classic colonials to Tudors to modern mountain homes with stone accents and neutral colors in true Colorado style.

Many houses in the neighborhood have fenced-in backyards, vaulted ceilings and light-filled rooms. Spacious yards and meticulously manicured landscapes offer privacy and a sense of community, while the wide sidewalks make it easy to reach all the neighborhood’s amenities. The average home price hovers in the lower $800,000s, ranging from town houses and modest lots listed in the mid $500,000s, to large five-bedroom homes with three-car garages in the upper $800,000s to over $1 million.

The neighborhood is home to top-tier schools with high ratings on Niche, such as Indian Ridge Elementary, with an A rating and Laredo Middle School, scoring a B-plus. Boasting an A, Smoky Hill High School offers a range of afterschool activities and hosts their annual craft fair with over 221 vendors selling handmade items. “The schools around Piney Creek are some of the best in the state. Along with access to outdoor recreation, it makes it a great place to raise a family. That is why I moved here from downtown,” says Jason Dodd, associate broker with Exit Realty DTC, who lives in the community.

Central to the neighborhood’s desirability is its proximity to nature. Piney Creek meanders through the area, creating serene waterways, picturesque trails and lush green spaces for locals to explore. Piney Creek Trail maintains paved walking paths along the creek, where morning jogs and evening strolls are daily rituals, offering moments of peace and reflection. Another local favorite is Village Park, where shouts of children on the playground echo through the air, while loved ones celebrate under the pavilion. The renowned Cherry Creek Park is next door, filled with rolling hills and an 880 acre reservoir. “The proximity to Cherry Creek State Park is huge. Just steps away, you can access the great outdoors. It’s common to spend the weekend boating along the reservoir or watch the sunrise on a paddleboard,” Dodd says. Cherry Creek is also home to multiple hiking and biking trails, an off-leash dog park and a riding stable where one can explore the Wild West authentically on horseback along the grasslands.

Exclusive to HOA residents, Piney Creek is also home to multiple parks, spanning 16 acres total. The East Park includes the clubhouse, swimming pool and four tennis courts. Here, it’s common to see friends playing Frisbee along the turf field or loved ones picnicking along the serene pond. The neighborhood is also home to the Trails Recreation Center, where kids can play in the extensive 18,000-square-foot aquatic area. You may see kids floating along the lazy river or racing down the waterslides. Other amenities include a rock climbing wall, skatepark and cultural arts programs, making it an excellent spot for the whole family to try out a pottery, photography or dance class.

Despite its tranquil ambiance, the neighborhood is a quick drive to Centennial’s convenient shopping hubs. For a cup of joe, stop by Doug’s Day Diner off East Orchard Road, a local favorite for morning coffee and breakfast burritos. Or head to Pioneer Hills, where you can indulge in exquisite South Indian curry at Madera’s Café before knocking off that shopping list at Walmart and The Home Depot. If that isn’t your style, Sprouts Farmers Market and King Scoopers are just outside the neighborhood boundaries along East Smoky Hill Road. For commuters, nearby access to Interstate 25 and 225 makes it easy to travel around central Centennial or downtown Denver.
