From midcentury charm to recent construction
Most of the housing stock in Pawtuckett is from the mid-20th century. You’ll find many split-levels and ranch-style homes resting on spacious lots of well over a third of an acre. Development in the 1990s and early 2000s brought Colonial Revivals on smaller lots. There are also tract-style subdivisions of transitional detached homes and townhouses from the 2010s, as well as new construction.

Some of the lowest home prices in Northwest Charlotte
"You have a lot of great neighborhoods here where you're going to see a lot of value," says Trevor Hall, Realtor at Helen Adams Realty. Pawtuckett’s median sale price is around $310,000, significantly below Charlotte ’s median. Detached homes start in the lower $200,000s and can reach the upper $400,000s. Townhouses range from the upper $200,000s to the lower $300,000s. You’ll find similar prices in neighboring Wildwood and Toddville Road, and higher prices in communities closer to Mountain Island Lake, such as Coulwood Hills and Harwood Lane.

Interstates 85 and 485 connect commuters to job hubs
Commuters here have quick access to Interstates 85 and 485 to reach job centers across the city. However, you’ll often have to contend with traffic delays on these major highways. "It's a great commuter location, right at the edge of Charlotte," Hall says. Popular destinations include:
Uptown, which is less than 10 miles or about 15 minutes away
South End, which is about 8 miles or 12 minutes away
University City, which is roughly 15 miles or 22 minutes away
Ballantyne, which is less than 20 miles or about 22 minutes away
You also have Charlotte Douglas International Airport, a major regional employer, a few miles away.
Zoned schools plus magnet and charter choices nearby
Elementary students here typically go to Whitewater Academy or Tuckaseegee Elementary School, which offers Learning Immersion and Talent Development for gifted students. Both schools feed into Whitewater Middle School, which has an Environmental Sustainability magnet program. Students have a short bus ride to West Mecklenburg High School, which is in the neighborhood. Additionally, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools lets students apply to a magnet school of their choice through its annual Program Choice Lottery, such as Pawtuckett’s Wilson STEM Academy. The neighborhood is also home to the highly rated East Voyager Academy of Charlotte, a public international language charter school serving kindergarten through eighth grade.
