Mountview Park
Apartments and single families in 1950s suburbia atmosphere
Mountview Park is a mixture of single-family homes and apartments. Most apartments sit west of Hot Springs Avenue, while the single-family homes section resembles 1950s-style suburbia. Midcentury moderns, cottages and split-level homes from the 1940s through the 1960s line wide and sometimes hilly streets. Properties have limited space between neighbors, and homes sometimes have fences or tall trees as an option for privacy. People stroll along paved sidewalks, and even though the highway is close, there’s very little noise. Cottages and ranch homes under 1,100 square feet sell from $225,000 to $368,000. Two-story homes and properties over 1,500 square feet are closer to the east side of the neighborhood, costing between $345,000 and $500,000.All schools within walking distance
All Mountview Park schools are within walking distance of the neighborhood’s homes. Students can spend kindergarten through sixth grade at Henderson Elementary, a C-rated school by Niche. Seventh and eighth graders head to Carey Junior High School, which earns a C-plus from Niche. Diplomas can be earned from East High, a B-minus school. Students can receive dual enrollment credit with Laramie County Community College in information technology, healthcare or agriculture.Walkable to Brimmer Park
Most outdoor recreation opportunities are north of the neighborhood. Residents can walk to Brimmer Park, which has a softball field and a skate park decked out in graffiti. Cahill Park is 2 miles north with a playground and five soccer fields. Both parks sit along a walking trail. “The parks nearby have a greenway path, where people usually ride their bikes, rollerblade or walk the dog,” Kuzma says. Golfers can tee up at the public Prairie View Golf Course, which has nine holes. The beginner-friendly course also has a six-week program for ages 8 to 18.Elvis-themed diner on Lincolnway
Lincoln Highway, known as “Lincolnway,” is the primary gateway to the neighborhood’s shopping and dining. Diners at the R&B Breakfast Club will sit in an Elvis-themed dining room decorated with memorabilia of multiple portraits and album covers of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The brunch spot serves an American-style menu, and breakfast burritos are the main draw. The Human Bean is a small coffee shop with frozen and hot beverage options. The laid back Pour Decisions Bar and Grill opened in 2021 2 miles east of the neighborhood, and quickly developed a following for its drinks and bratwurst. Groceries are available at Albertsons. Cheyenne Plaza Shopping Center has major outdoor shops like Sportsman’s Warehouse and Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply.Reach I-80 using Lincolnway
Lincolnway borders Mountview Park to the south. “It’s easy to get around Cheyenne; most people use a car. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach anything,” Kuzma says. The main thoroughfare travels from east to west around the city and eventually dumps out to Interstate 80. On this interstate, drivers can reach Laramie in 50 miles and the Nebraska border in 44 miles. Cheyenne Regional Airport is 2 miles west, offering daily flights to Denver.
