Wagon Trails
New Traditionals, ranch-style homes and townhouses
Sidewalks and crosswalks make Wagon Trails pedestrian-friendly. Some New Traditional and ranch-style homes sit right next to each other; developers built them quickly to meet a furious housing demand at the turn of the 21st century. Yard sizes vary; homes that take up most of their lot space tend to cost less, whereas those with deeper, fenced-in yards will be more expensive. Single-family homes were built during the 1990s and early 2000s and include up to five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Prices range from about $400,000 to $665,000, depending on square footage and lot size. Townhouses fall between $330,000 and $460,000.Zoned for Colorado Springs School District No. 11
Students may attend Freedom Elementary in the center of Wagon Trails before advancing to Jenkins Middle School and Doherty High School. All receive Bs from Niche. As of the 2024-2025 school year, Colorado Springs School District No. 11 has banned cell phones. According to some teachers, this initiative has led to more classroom participation.Indoor and outdoor pools and recreation areas
In the middle of the neighborhood, Eugene McCleary Park has wide-open spaces including a basketball court, playground and picnic area. Neighbors can meet up at Wagon Trails Recreation Association’s outdoor pool. Between Bike Valet of Colorado, the local repair shop, and Ascent Cycling, a bike shop, cyclists are equipped for rides down nearby Homestead Trail. Cottonwood Creek Park stretches across dozens of acres and includes a large, brightly colored playground with a rock wall and monkey bars made of spinning wheels. The park, located about a mile west of the neighborhood, can get packed on the weekends with baseball and soccer games. Families set up camping chairs, pack coolers and bring their dogs. The park also has a disc golf course, an outdoor hockey rink for inline skaters and hiking trails; some of the wooded pathways run alongside Cottonwood Creek. For indoor recreation, the YMCA at Cottonwood Creek Park and Villa Sport inside the neighborhood have fitness centers, workout classes and pools.Shopping and dining along Powers Boulevard
Shoppers can get groceries at Walmart Supercenter or Safeway. Fast-food restaurants like Chick-Fil-A are nearby, but for made-from-scratch pancakes, residents can head to Village Inn, a Denver-based chain with more than 100 locations. Powers Boulevard borders Wagon Trails; this main thoroughfare stretches past several restaurants and retailers, extending south past CommonSpirit St. Francis Hospital, Peterson Space Force Base and Colorado Springs Airport.Kid-friendly entertainment in Wagon Trails
At Play Street Museum, a kid-sized cabin, general store and other play areas encourage children to use their imaginations. This museum accepts reservations for playtime, parties, events and field trips. Legends Miniature Golf & Batting Cages entertains all ages between its three themed mini golf courses and snack bar.
