About Comstock Park, MI

Comstock Park is more than a commuter community

Comstock Park is a community found just north of Grand Rapids' city limits, along the glittering Grand River. While Comstock Park is an excellent area for commuters, it's much more than a commuter community. Residents here enjoy shopping centers, parks and minor league baseball games right in the neighborhood. "Comstock Park is like its own little small town," says Laura Cummings, a Realtor with Redstone Realty who has been selling homes since 2006. "It has established local businesses and great restaurants. The schools are all close since it's not a huge district. There's a nice family-friendly park, too. It's its own place, but it's also like an extension of Grand Rapids. I mean, with the expressway, you can get to downtown Grand Rapids within 5 minutes and anywhere else in the city in 15 or less."

Midcentury and Minimal Traditional charm

Comstock Park has homes that were built as early as 1900 and new construction properties that have yet to be constructed, so there's quite a bit of architectural variety along the community's lush, winding streets. Midcentury charm and Minimal Traditional designs are rampant among the area's ranch-style homes, bungalows and split-level residences. The median lot size in Comstock Park is about a half of an acre, so while some are a quarter-acre or less, there are plenty that are more than a half-acre and even some multi-acre properties on the more agricultural west side. Comstock Park also offers multifamily living as well with condominium and apartment complexes. Overall list prices range from $167,000 to $691,000.

"Comstock Park has kind of got it all," Cummings says. "And you're within walking distance of the White Pine Trail." Local hikers, bikers and runners alike enjoy the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail, which runs along the east side of Comstock Park, bordering the Grand River. This scenic trail starts in Comstock Park and runs north all the way to the city of Cadillac, following the historic rail bed of the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad.
