New developments in an established Chattanooga suburb
Winding in grassy, interconnected blocks and occasional subdivisions between I-24 and the Tennessee-Georgia border, East Ridge is a dense suburb of older homes experiencing residential and commercial development. "East Ridge is very convenient to Chattanooga, which is attracting more people and businesses to the area and increasing property values," says Cate Goins, an individual agent with Keller Williams who has been selling in East Ridge for 10 years. Ringgold Road cuts through East Ridge, forming a robust shopping and dining corridor between I-75 and Bachman Tunnel. With its own parks and schools, East Ridge connects residents to plentiful local amenities less than 10 miles from hubs in Chattanooga.

Older homes and new subdivisions
East Ridge's dense suburban blocks are home to a mix of one- and two-story single-family styles built in the 1930s through 1960s, pointing red brick and multi-colored vinyl siding over small grassy lots shaded by a handful of mature trees. Cape Cod, bungalow and ranch-style houses needing renovation can start at around $80,000, while move-in-ready options the next plot over might sell for $170,000 to $375,000 depending on its interior updates, square footage and lot size. New construction ranch-style and two-story houses in new traditional craftsman styles have popped up over the past several years, selling for $300,000 to $470,000. "The mix of homes is part of what makes East Ridge so attractive," says Goins. "First-time homeowners can put in sweat equity and know their home will increase in value due to its location, or they can find new move-in ready homes in the active real estate market."
