Southridge Village
1980s homes with old-world style
“The biggest draw to Shortridge is affordability. There’s a lower cost of living than in some surrounding areas. For the most part, the houses are very contemporary, but some have old-world Spanish tile roofs. There’s a lot of multi-family housing, too,” says Chris Taylor, a Realtor with Compass and a decade of experience. “Southridge is a large, centrally located community in Fontana. There are a lot of parks, baseball fields, and things for families to enjoy. There’s an Amazon facility nearby, too.” Most of the homes in Southridge Village were built between the late 1970s and the late 1990s. There are rows of multi-story dwellings and single-story ranch-style houses. Many homes have Adobe, Mediterranean and Spanish elements, and lawn sizes vary greatly depending on which part of the neighborhood residents choose. Prices range from $530,000 for a three-bedroom Spanish-style home to $750,000 for a six-bedroom Adobe-inspired dwelling.Performing arts, technology and dual enrollment
Fontana Unified School District zones half of Southridge Village for Canyon Crest Elementary, Southridge Tech Middle and Henry Kaiser High. The other half, closer to Sierra Avenue, is zoned for the Colton Joint Unified School District and facilities like Michael D’arcy, Jurupa Vista or Sycamore Hills Elementary, Harris Middle or Bloomington High. Canyon Crest, Southridge Tech and Henry Kaiser all earned a B-minus or higher from Niche. Canyon Crest Elementary works with schools throughout the district on collaborative theatre performances at the California Theatre of Performing Arts in San Bernardino. Southridge Tech Middle promotes innovative technology as a Microsoft Showcase School and provides a challenging curriculum through the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. Henry Kaiser High offers dual enrollment courses with Chaffey College and participates in a one-to-one technology exchange where students can use a school laptop throughout the year.Walking trails, ball fields and horseshoes
Southridge Village is filled with green spaces. The Martin Tudor Jurupa Hills Regional Park occupies an expansive area at the neighborhood's edge. There are horseshoe pits, bocce ball courts and barbecue areas with picnic tables. Southridge Park offers ball fields, basketball courts and a snack bar. It’s home to the Don Day Neighborhood Center, which has a Little Free Library, a Tiny Tots program and classes for dance, martial arts and gymnastics. Village Park has walking trails, a playground and a baseball diamond. A snack bar or barbecue area also keeps stomachs from rumbling in the middle of a game.Nature in the city
The Mary Vagle Nature Center welcomes visitors throughout the year. A nature trail circles the pond, and its gardens are filled with native plants. Inside the center, there are interactive displays of the area. Located in the Jurupa Hills, the center is popular for wildlife watching and for its programs on wildlife education, geology and foraging for local plants.Shopping centers, fresh tortillas and fusion flavors
Shopping opportunities are close to hand in Southridge Village. There’s a shopping center in the community and a Stater Brothers Market just outside the boundaries. Salons, specialty markets and a variety of dining options are also available. PV’s Prime Grill & Tequila offers Monday fajita specials and half-price margaritas in a comfortable, fashionable atmosphere on Wednesdays. The tortillas are made from scratch, as are the chimichangas, shrimp empanadas and moles. The Curry Pizza Company celebrates the flavors of Indian and Italian cuisine through uniquely delicious updates of familiar classics. There are vegan options alongside butter chicken waffle fries, tandoori paneer pizza and Desi garlic bread.Motoring through the Inland Empire
There’s no shortage of ways to get around Shortridge Village. It’s close to Interstates 10 and 15 and Routes 60 and 91. Just 17 miles from San Bernardino and 47 miles from Los Angeles, many people commute less than a half-hour one way. Numerous bus stops surround the neighborhood, and sidewalks are prevalent throughout the area.
