Classic architectural styles at entry-level price points
In Lincoln Park, you won’t find cookie-cutter homes. Most are classic ranch-styles, Craftsman designs or cottages, built between 1950 and 1999. These properties usually sell between the low $100,000s and mid-$200,000s, which, compared to buzzier spots like downtown, makes Lincoln Park much more affordable. “Right in the heart of the city is pretty expensive, with all the new development,” says Travis Striggle, a Realtor with Mike Thomas Associates with nearly a decade of experience. “But you can get a good starter home for pretty cheap, if you’re willing to look outside of downtown. Right now, that range is anywhere under $300,000.”

Break and Run, a popular local bar with pub food, pool tables and music sets
King Gyros, which serves authentic Greek cuisine in a laid-back atmosphere

Where to find outdoor recreation and year-round entertainment
At the center of the community is Gren Park, which has a playground and walking trails. Residents may also pop over to Franke Park, a 340-acre green space where fishing is popular at Shoaff Lake, or you can take your bike to the Fort Wayne BMX race park. The park is home to Fort Wayne Zoo and Foellinger Theater, a covered open-air theater with year-round events, including summer concerts and performances. When cold Midwestern winters blow into the area, you can head indoors to Pro Bowl West, an entertainment center that includes more than 50 lanes for bowling, arcade games and event space.
School options for kids living in Lincoln Park
Like most neighborhoods in the city limits, Lincoln Park is zoned to the Fort Wayne Community School System. Younger kids can go to either Francis M. Price Elementary School or Franke Park Elementary School before attending Northwood Middle School and North Side High School. Indiana has school choice within a district during open enrollment periods. If you’re considering schooling outside of the public options, Lincoln Park is close to several highly rated private schools, some of which are faith-based.

Getting around the city by car or bus
Most people get around by car, and the neighborhood is less than a mile from U.S. Route 27, one of the city’s main roads. The Citilink bus also stops at several locations throughout Lincoln Park and runs different routes throughout Fort Wayne. “Because it’s in a pretty central location, commuting by car to anywhere in Fort Wayne is quick and convenient, with easy access to major downtown corridors,” says Cory Allen, a local Fort Wayne Realtor with The Regan and Ferguson Group. He’s been assisting homebuyers for over 15 years.
