Welcome to Spring Ridge, a suburban community with a variety of single-family houses and condos. From stellar schools to a convenient strip mall, you’ll never want to leave the comfortable area right outside of historic downtown Frederick, Maryland. “It’s like a one-stop shop. You have everything you need inside that neighborhood,” says Tracy Markham, Real Estate Agent with L. P. Calomeris Realty.

As a suburb, Spring Ridge is composed of tree-lined cul-de-sacs and winding roads of housing. Lots tend on the larger side for single-family homes for space from neighbors. The yards are often well-groomed and feature bushes planted in garden beds. “The neighborhood is about 30-something years old and has new construction,” Markham says. As for styles, single-family houses often come in Colonial Revivals and New Traditionals with brick or vinyl exteriors. You can also find Colonial town houses with a variety of colors in both brick and vinyl siding, or choose from condos, some of which have balcony space. Sales prices can range from $405,000 for smaller vinyl town houses to $940,000 for larger New Traditional single-family homes.

Students in Spring Ridge attend Frederick County Public Schools. According to Niche, the district earns an A- rating for high-quality academics, diversity and college prep. Niche even names the district as the seventh-best school district in the state of Maryland. Schools include Spring Ridge Elementary School, Oakdale Middle School and Oakdale High School. Spring Ridge Elementary School earned four out of five stars in 2022 according to the Maryland State Department of Education.

Visit a wide variety of recreation spaces to spend time outdoors in Spring Ridge. At Tree Trekkers, experience a high ropes course and over 40 zip lines among the woods for an adventurous outing during birthday parties or regular hobby time. The Spring Ridge Recreational Park has playgrounds, a swing set and a picnic pavilion. The large multi-purpose park also has basketball courts, tennis courts and a paved path for strolls or jogs. At the Spring Ridge Pool, delight in a day of summertime fun by taking a dip in the lap pool, main pool or baby pool. You can also bring children to cool off in the splash pad.

In the Spring Ridge Shopping Center, you’ll find the community’s restaurants for a convenient meal. J&P Pizza serves New York-style pies and Italian fare in a comfortable interior ideal for family dinners or date nights complete with drinks from the wine wall or the marble bar. At Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, order classics like eggrolls and General Tso’s Chicken in a laidback restaurant ideal for simple lunches or takeout meals.

About five miles from downtown Frederick, Spring Ridge residents can easily access Carroll Creek Park and the surrounding business district. The distance is ideal for work commutes and weekend events. To reach the nation's capital and see the Smithsonian museums, the community is around 45 miles from downtown Washington, DC. “Spring Ridge is a very tight-knit community with a lot to offer,” Markham says. In Spring Ridge, enjoy a suburb with many housing options, a great school district and a strip mall.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process. The houses in most of the neighborhood are very close together and young people tend to cause trouble sometimes. There have been many reports of theft and vandalism within our neighborhood
