Active, lively residential community anchored by McLane High School
A few miles from downtown Fresno, McLane is a densely packed residential community centered on its namesake high school, which has a recently upgraded multi-million-dollar football stadium. “It’s a pretty active community because of all the sports facilities,” says Joelle Jackson, a local Realtor with SME Real Estate. “The schools have huge pools and stadiums. It’s a different type of energy.” The small Fresno Yosemite International Airport is right in the neighborhood, as is the Club One Casino, a popular nighttime gathering spot and major local employer. McLane’s diverse population is reflected in the range of cuisines available at local restaurants, and cultural institutions like the Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church, established in 1901.

Midcentury homes, duplexes and condos
Homes on McLane’s west side are mostly minimal traditional bungalows from the 1940s and ‘50s, priced from $170,000 to $470,0000. On the east side, new traditional homes were built between 1980 and 2010, though there's some new construction, as well; some have partial stone exteriors or Spanish Revival-inspired elements like barrel tile roofing, and prices tend to range from $300,000 to $750,000. Throughout the neighborhood, lot sizes tend to be smaller than a quarter-acre, and flat, grassy front lawns are often shaded by a diverse mix of foliage, including palm, sycamore, and oak trees.
A few condo complexes dotted around the neighborhood offer two-bedroom units for between $120,000 and $250,000. Multi-family properties are also scattered on the west side, including between 2 and five rentable units and ranging in price from $300,000 to $725,000.

Sam’s Italian Deli and other family-owned eateries
Local restaurants are found throughout the community, including Sam's Italian Deli and Market, a staple for Italian sandwiches and charcuterie since 1980. Mama’s Asian Noodle House on the west side is known for their authentic Lao and Thai food. “It’s family-owned and kind of quiet,” Jackson says of Mama's. “It doesn’t get as much traction as it should, in my opinion.” Set along McLane’s northern edge, the Club One Casino is a popular nightlife spot, and while the New Manchester Mall is mostly vacant these days, it still houses a dd’s Discounts and the Regal Manchester Cinema. Nearby grocery stores include Walmart and the local City Foods Market.
