Designated “Playful City”

Hampton, a thriving city located in Henry County, is a southeastern Atlanta suburb that strikes a balance between preserving its history and embracing growth. The city is adorned with landmarks that showcase its unique character, including a brewery housed in an old jailhouse and lofts that have been converted from a former cotton mill. History enthusiasts can explore the Nash Farm Battlefield Park and Museum, which commemorates Civil War battles, while nature lovers can take wetland ecology at the Newman Wetlands Center. Hampton’s economy is well-sustained with the support of major companies such as Southern States, known for manufacturing high voltage power transmission and distribution products, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Route Traffic Control Center, and the renowned Atlanta Motor Speedway. Positioned at the intersection of US Route 19/41 and Georgia State Route 20, Hampton offers residents convenient access to Atlanta and neighboring cities like Griffin. Beyond its economic and cultural offerings, residents here are drawn to the city’s commitment to safety, affordability, and timeless historic charm. The presence of ancient oaks has earned it the title of a "Tree City," and its designation as one of the 213 U.S. "Playful Cities" encourages young people to enjoy the recreational opportunities available.
