Close to the beach and the city

Sandalwood, 20 minutes from Downtown Jacksonville, is a preferred neighborhood because of its location. Sandalwood boasts sidewalks, mature trees, an adjacent park and an A-rated school district. Residents can enjoy one of the locally owned cafes or shops, dine in the area's restaurants or head to the Huffman Boulevard Park. Established in the 1960s by builder-developer Pearce-Uible, the community was advertised as "On the Southside – halfway between business and pleasure!" The community offers a suburban feel with the convenience of being close to the beach and the downtown area of Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Light Boat Parade

Locals attend concerts at the Robert E. Jacoby Symphony Hall at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts or enjoy an evening at Alhambra Theatre & Dining for dinner and a show. During the winter holidays, residents experience the Jacksonville Light Boat Parade downtown along the Southbank Riverwalk or head to the beach for the annual Deck the Chairs, featuring festively decorated lifeguard chairs. Residents also find a community within their local places of worship. The Islamic Center of Northeast Florida offers Friday services and daily prayers. Nearby are the Maranatha Baptist Church and the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

Block homes

“There are lots of block homes in the area. Due to their building materials, block homes are less likely to develop rot in the Florida humidity and easier to add attachments to,” says Bennett. Sandalwood boasts mid-century modern homes, sprawling ranch homes and minimal traditional homes. Single-family homes range from $260,000 to $550,000. Townhouses and condos range from $200,000 to $300,000.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. The housing in this area, i find decent. The quality here is decent for the most part. Most houses here come with a reliable air conditioner, fencing and most houses have between 3-4 bedrooms.
