Lake Barrington Shore is a gated community and has more than 1,300 homes, some of which have more townhouse characteristics. In addition to the mature trees along winding roads, Lake Barrington Shore has some elevation — an unusual trait in the greater Chicago area and another feature that has likened it to Galena. The buildings exhibit both side-gabled and half-hipped roofs, along with wood and clapboard exteriors painted in earth tones. Narrow walkways wind toward the buildings, some of which are detached and house double garages. Mature trees can be found on the lawns along with garden beds decorated with piles of smooth stones. Price points here can go from about $260,000 for a two-bedroom condo unit to over $500,000 for a three-bedroom and more than 2,500-square-foot townhouse.Dining options along Shoreline Road and in nearby Lake Zurich
On the far northern end of the community, a few dining options exist in the strip mall center right along Shoreline Road. They can find a mix of upscale and casual Italian fare at Za Za’s Tavolta Italiana, as well as desserts like creme brulee. The restaurant is a few doors down from the LB Mart convenience store, which houses the Panini Bar. More dining and shopping options, residents will need to travel to one of the nearby villages like Lake Zurich. A section of U.S. Highway 12 — also called South Rand Road — in the neighboring village is dense with shops and dining establishments, including many chain brands. Schools serving the area include North Barrington Elementary School and Barrington High School, which respectfully received an A and A-plus from ratings site Niche. The high school has rigorous college preparatory curricula and has in the past hosted presidential visits: John F. Kennedy during the fall of 1960 and Barack Obama during the spring of 2006.Concerts at Freier Farm
The village of Lake Barrington puts on a variety of community events. During the summer, residents bring out their blankets and chairs to enjoy free concerts at Freier Farm. Performers play from the farm’s gazebo. The farm is also the site of the free Barn Stomp. The community sits right along Illinois State Route 59, which connects to other nearby roadways like U.S. Highway 12 and allows travel to other nearby villages like Wauconda and Lake Zurich. Lake Barrington Shore is located about 27 miles north of Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
