Mesquite trees line the entrance to Continental Ranch Sunflower, a residential neighborhood in southern Marana’s master-planned Continental Ranch community. The neighborhood is for those 55 or older and shares amenities such as trails, pools and sports courts with the more extensive Continental Ranch development. “I’m always telling people that you can be as active or secluded as you want,” says resident Tim Walter, an associate broker at Diamondback Real Estate with over six years of experience. “There are some other 55-pluses in the northwest side of Tucson, but those communities are all at least 20 to 30 minutes from the highway, whereas here we’re just over a mile. It’s off the highway enough, too, where we don’t get much noise, but you can get downtown in 20 minutes if you like that style.”
Activities at the Village Center and nearby trails
Village Center is the neighborhood’s central gathering point. It hosts all the daily activities, including those in the billiards, crafts and fitness rooms. The center hosts over 50 groups, from art to bridge clubs. According to Walter, the Veterans Club is one of the most popular neighborhood groups. They assist with programs, sponsor cookouts to raise funds for veteran causes and decorate the main parkway with flags four times yearly. Athletic facilities include bocce courts, multipurpose sports courts and a swimming pool with a jacuzzi. Just north of the neighborhood, Los Morteros Conservation Area is a preserved Hohokam village site with trails that wind past preserved areas with artifacts and interpretative signs.

Restaurants along West Twin Peaks Road and nearby shopping centers
West Twin Peaks Road is home to a Safeway shopping center and restaurants, including Angela’s Mexican Food and Twin Peaks Pizzeria. Travel by Interstate 10, bike-friendly roads and airplane
Twin Peaks Road runs through the neighborhood’s southern region, east to Interstate 10, which connects the community to Tucson. The Loop is a 138-mile bike-friendly path that runs parallel to I-10 and is accessible by cycling on Twin Peaks Road’s dedicated bike lane. Tucson International Airport is within a 25-mile drive of the neighborhood and has over a dozen direct domestic flights.
