Northwestern Marietta draws residents with its convenience

The community of Northwestern Marietta includes access to Interstates 75 and 575, shopping at Town Center mall and easy access to everything bustling Marietta has to offer. Chris Cantu, a real estate agent with Chapman Hall Realtors Atlanta North who sells throughout the metro area, says the community’s convenience is the main draw. “Convenience to historic Marietta Square and restaurants, entertainment, and outdoor activities,” he says. Northwestern Marietta is also zoned for one of the city’s highest rated elementary schools and offers a wide variety of housing options, from small condos to luxury estates.

Single-family homes, condos, townhouses and estates available

Homes in Northwestern Marietta include ranch-style, split-level, Colonial Revival, New Traditional and sprawling custom estates. They sit on lawns landscaped with grass and mature trees along quiet, winding streets. Prices start at around $300,000 for smaller three-bedroom homes and can climb as high as around $1.3 million, with higher priced homes featuring luxury upgrades and more than 3,000 square feet. HOA fees vary greatly by subdivision, with some HOA-free areas available. Condos and townhouses are also available, ranging from petite two-bedroom units to upscale three- and four-bedroom properties, priced between around $200,000 to around $600,000.

Zoned schools, including West Side Elementary, earn high marks

Marietta City Schools serves the neighborhood, rates an A on Niche, and offers open enrollment, limited to intra-district transfers. Families can request a transfer to a school other than their zoned school and placement is determined by space and district policy. Some programs, like magnet tracks, may use competitive criteria or lotteries when demand exceeds seats. Children can attend A-rated West Side Elementary, B-plus-rated Marietta Sixth Grade Academy, B-plus-rated Marietta Middle, and A-minus-rated Marietta High. West Side Elementary has won a spate of awards over the years. In 2024, its third through fifth graders won the Georgia Department of Education Masters of Mathematics and Literacy Leader awards.

Nearby Marietta Square offers many restaurants and boutiques

Residents are close to downtown Marietta, especially those living on the south side of the neighborhood. Marietta Square, the buzzy shopping, dining and entertainment district, is a favorite for its array of local restaurants, including Spring, an upscale spot serving New American style cuisine and recipient of a Michelin star. “I went there with my son, and it was delicious,” Cantu says. Another favorite downtown dining destination is Marietta Square Market Food Hall, which has more than 20 vendors. Local boutiques, galleries, theaters and Glover Park are also located around the Square.

Just north of the neighborhood along Ernst W. Barrett Parkway is Town Center, a popular indoor mall with retailers like Macy’s and H&M. Several large shopping centers are near the mall, with big box stores like Target, Costco, Whole Foods and Walmart. While there, residents can dine out at chain restaurants including Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Outback Steakhouse. There are also smaller, locally owned spots like Fire Stone, which serves Chinese dishes, and Pinch of Spice, which specializes in Indian cuisine. AMC Barrett Commons 24 is also located in this retail hub and screens the latest films.

Parks offer trails, playgrounds and sports for all ages

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is just outside of the neighborhood and features 3,000 acres of fields and forests. Residents hike, walk their dogs and ride their horses along miles of trails. Within the neighborhood are Lewis Park, which has a dog park, playground and tennis courts, and Skip Wells Park, a destination for youth and adult softball programs. Residents get indoor recreation at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park and Crunch Fitness Kennesaw near Town Center.

Residents gather downtown for Art in the Park and other events

Art in the Park runs through Labor Day weekend every year and features an exhibition of almost 200 artists from across the country, as well as work by local artists. HarvestFest and Scarecrows in the Square ushers in fall with a pie eating contest, arts and crafts show, kid-friendly activities and a costume contest. Both events, plus many more, take place in Glover Park in downtown Marietta.

Major highways and bus routes connect residents to Atlanta

Interstate 575 merges with I-75 on the community’s north side, then I-75 runs the rest of the way, connecting residents to Atlanta. U.S. Route 41 also runs through the community and travels to Atlanta. CobbLinc buses run along Route 41. Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center is on the neighborhood’s northwest side and has an emergency room. Hatfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is roughly 30 miles from the heart of the neighborhood via I-75.
