Affordable Mesa suburb with options
An affordable community on the doorsteps of Mesa, Superstition Country offers spacious homes and ample recreation with mountain views in sight. “This area is definitely older and more affordable than the Gilbert area. It’s located close to the freeway (202 and Hwy 60) as well as a hospital, and draws a lot of working-class folks as well as retired individuals and couples looking for a similar life,” says Jason Crittenden, a real estate agent with RealtyOne Group.
Mix of housing options
Prospective homebuyers will find no shortage of options with single-family homes echoing Spanish influences with tiled roofs and stucco walls, as well as Ranch style homes. The community is also home to several RV parks including Superstition Sunrise for those looking to downsize and enjoy the community amenities on site. Single family homes range anywhere between $200,000 and $550,000 while a manufactured home will run anywhere from $35,000 to $160,000 for more premium units. Crittenden noted that the lower price point makes it easier for some to get into home compared to pricey neighborhoods of Gilbert, Chandler, or even East Mesa.
Mesa Unified School District
The community is served by Mesa Unified School District and some students will begin at Stevenson Elementary School, rated a B-minus on Niche.com. Students move on to Smith Junior High School and Skyline High School, both rated a B. Skyline High School has an array of educational programs and extracurricular activities for students, ranging from the Film Critique Club to the auto club, which provides hands-on learning and activities related to motorsports.
Recreation and activities galore
Skyline park is an expansive 30-acre outdoor space located right in the heart of the neighborhood. You can test out your jump shot on one of the lighted basketball courts or dig your feet into the sand in a game of beach volleyball. Skyline Aquatic Center features an Olympic-sized pool and a water slide for Skyline Aquatic Center which features an Olympic-sized lap pool and a water slide for a quick thrill. Just east in neighboring Apache Junction, Apache Creek Golf Club showcases 18 holes with views of the Superstition Mountains.
Everyday needs
Residents needing medical care won’t have to travel far with Mountain Vista Medical Center nearby. This 178-bed hospital provides emergency care in addition to a myriad of medical services ranging from orthopedics to maternity care. Walgreens is right around the corner if you need to pick up a prescription. There are plenty of fast-food options around if you want a quick meal on the go, but you’ll find more options with a quick drive down East Southern Avenue. You can find anything from Eggplant Parmesan from Babbo Italian Eatery to various house curries from Thai Kitchen at The Shoppes at Parkwood Ranch. Mr. Brews Taphouse features gourmet burgers and a plethora of beers on tap from light to dark.
Highway Access
Proximity to US-60 and the 202 Loop gives residents a head start on their commute and easy access to the rest of the Valley, though there’s plenty to do right in the neighborhood.
