The neighborhood is next door to the North Milwaukie Business-Industrial area, one of Milwaukie's top manufacturing, transportation and job locations.

There are houses in Linwood built in the mid-20th century and others built within the last several years. Most properties around the neighborhood include lots that stretch at least a quarter of an acre, which residents tend to keep manicured. There is plentiful greenery on local properties, and residents have trimmed flower bushes and hedges. Homes in the area are in the saltbox, ranch and split-level styles, usually with attached garage ports. These homes sell for $350,000 to $700,000.

“There are a number of schools close by, so the commute is convenient,” Paris says. Children in Linwood can attend school in the North Clackamas School District, starting at Linwood Elementary, receiving a C-plus on Niche, before moving on to Rowe Middle School, receiving a C, then Milwaukie High School, receiving a B-minus. Milwaukie High School encompasses a public charter school, the Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, which mixes its performing and visual arts instruction with a core curriculum.

Wichita Park and Stronger Skatepark

Wichita Park has space to play, with a large play structure, a walking path and a disc golf area. For relaxation or to enjoy a picnic, residents visit Stanley Park, right next to the Linwood Community Garden. Stronger Skatepark is an indoor skateboarding facility in the northeast corner of Linwood. The space, which is welcome to all skill levels, has expanded since it opened in 2019.

North Clackamas Aquatic Park

Near the Clackamas Town Center is the North Clackamas Aquatic Park, which features a swimming pool and several water slides. The location offers swim lessons, lifeguard training and other aquatic activities year-round. The Linwood area also has a Neighborhood Association that holds an annual Linwood Block Party and year-round meetings.
