A growing community in the heart of East Nashville
Inglewood is a booming residential area in the middle of East Nashville, 5 miles from downtown. What was once predominantly a farming community has evolved into a thriving commercial and residential hub while maintaining the rustic natural beauty of the hilly green terrain characteristic of Tennessee. “In the last few years, Inglewood has gotten really popular,” says Justin Floyd, a Realtor who has lived in East Nashville for over 10 years. “You’re still in the city's urban core, but you get way more green space for a lower price point. It’s also really architecturally diverse.”

Shelby Bottoms Park
Shelby Bottoms Park is just to the south. “My favorite place to run is down at Shelby Bottoms Park, the greenway. The old airpark, Cornelia Fort, is really cool to check out,'' says Floyd. “You’ll see runners, bikers, rollerblading— just all of it down there.” At a massive 960 acres, Shelby Bottoms Nature Center and Greenway follow the bend of the Cumberland River from Inglewood all the way down to the southernmost portion of East Nashville. The Nature Center details the native plants and animals of the area and its history while also providing summer recreational programs and student internships. The greenway is a 5-mile-long paved trail for walking or cycling alongside the river. Just north of the park is the Shelby Golf Course, an 18-hole layout amid rolling hills and lots of oaks and maples.

Where vintage meets modern
Inglewood consists of a grid-style layout to the south, while the north is comprised of short streets branching off main roadways. Inglewood has a suburban feel with broad roads winding along the residential landscape. Sidewalks are rare, as most residents use a car to get around. Ranch-style houses, Craftsmans and Cape Cods dot the streets. New constructions often use modern styling to appear sleek and narrow, though some mimic classic, vintage styles. Two- and three-bedroom homes tend to sell for between $400,000 and $700,000, with the average price hovering around $600,000. Newer builds from 2020 to the present tend to fetch a higher price, going for between $600,000 and $900,000.

Scoring a B on Niche, Dan Mills Elementary boasts some of the highest math and reading proficiency rates within the Metro Nashville Public School district. Students can finish their education at Stratford Comprehensive High School, which earned a C on Niche and provides education for grades 5 to 12.
