Mira Costa
An array of housing options in Mira Costa
Mira Costa properties have build years spanning from the 1970s to the 1990s. Some streets have ranch styles with pastel stucco and siding. Others feature large two-story homes built in the 1980s with Spanish clay tile roofs and mature fruit trees. Smaller houses and attached homes are found in the 55-and-better community of Costa Serena. Many midcentury styles are nicely maintained or remodeled, and some residences border community parks. There are also lightly colored Mediterranean styles built in the 1990s. Prices range from $425,000 for a condo to $1.3 million for an upgraded pool home with golf course views.Taking to the golf course and other green spaces
Mira Costa living also includes proximity to several community green spaces as well as the private El Camino Country Club, whose golf course spreads throughout the neighborhood's western half. The Country Club offers memberships that provide access to an 18-hole championship golf course, dining facilities, a fitness center and a swimming pool. Residents also walk, bike or drive to Palisades Park to jog the paved loop or enjoy the playground. Here, neighbors walk their dogs or relax on the lawn. Locals find more outdoor recreation at Joe Sepulveda Park.Several retail hubs and dining options to choose from
When heading out to eat, hungry patrons find several cuisine styles in the North County Place shopping mall, including popular seafood specialties and Cadillac margaritas at Anita's Mexican Restaurant — a neighborhood staple since 1973. Residents meet for cocktails at the thatch-roof bar inside Teri Café, serving Japanese ramen and sushi. At Enzo's BBQ Ale House, visitors can order from the Italian or barbecue menus. Sports lovers gather at Rookies Sports Bar in Mira Costa to enjoy a selection of more than 30 beers on tap. Just outside Mira Costa proper are grocery shopping and retail options from Von's and Trader Joe's to Target. Shoppers also head to the Shoppes at Carlsbad, less than 5 miles south.Young students attend well-performing schools
In Mira Costa, some students can walk to Christa McAuliffe Elementary or venture outside of the community to attend Martin Luther King Junior Middle; both public schools have a B grade from Niche. El Camino High is both a National Blue Ribbon and California Distinguished School, earning a B-plus Niche grade.Home to MiraCosta College
On the western side of the community, Mira Costa College serves more than 20,000 students. Thornton adds, "It's a real advantage living in Mira Costa to be able to bike or walk to the college. A lot of the students there transition to UC San Diego or San Diego State University. And while it's a suburban area around the campus, you can still head to the beach to surf or go the Farmers Market in Oceanside. It's a great area that's close to the ocean breezes, but you don't get that San Diego fog. It's the best of both worlds, really."Traveling along central roadways
Commuters can catch the public bus along Barnard Drive and Rancho Del Oro Road, central to Mira Costa. State Route 78 flows along the southern border, leading residents to the coast. The region has a number of healthcare facilities nearby, including a medical plaza on Vista Way.
