Established OKC Suburb with golf course views

The hometown of country music superstar Garth Brooks, Surrey Hills is on the OKC suburb's northern edge and is an established community built around a golf course of the same name. "Close to the highway and right on the edge of Yukon, the location is hard to beat," says Frances Fuller, a Realtor with Chinowth & Cohen. Homebuyers agree: "This ZIP code is one of the fastest growing in the country," Fuller adds, referring to Opendoor ranking 73099 as the second hottest ZIP code in the U.S. in 2022. The neighborhood was developed around a golf course, featuring more than well-groomed fairways for marvelous tee shots. Fuller says the boom is understandable: "People really like the schools, and there are a lot of stores, restaurants and things going on in Yukon. There's a lot that Surrey Hills has to offer."

Modern takes on traditional style homes, and golf course views

Most homes in Surrey Hills were constructed in the 1960s and 70s with a small amount of new construction in the past five years. Home styles are a mix of traditional ranch style homes and Dallas style with steeper pitched roofs and gables with brick exteriors of around 2,500 square feet. Newer construction homes in the 2020s consist of modern farmhouse style homes from 1,500 to 1,700 square feet with prices ranging from $200,000 to $500,000. Buyers can expect to pay close to $450,000 for a three-bedroom, three-bathroom, Traditional home built in 2023, featuring golf course views, a stacked stone façade and modern interior finishes. A three bedroom, two-bath modern farmhouse-style home built in the last five years, featuring attached two-car garages with golf cart storage, tends to sell for between $215,000 and $300,000.

Crisp fairways and lively greens at Surrey Hills Golf Course

The Golf Course at Surrey Hills a main attraction of the neighborhood, is only a mile away from most homes. The 18-hole course has recently teed off with more than $1 million in upgrades, including a remodeled clubhouse and banquet facility and an outdoor pavilion. Beyond golf, the club has an outdoor pool and a gym for workouts and relaxation. Just west of Surrey Hills, Outlaw Creek is popular with outdoor enthusiasts looking for offroad mountain biking trails. Surrounded by marshes and swamps, Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge is a 1,000 acre forested escape with trails, towering trees, and views of the North Canadian River.

Northwest Expressway corridor connects to shopping

Close to the Northwest Expressway, Surrey Hills also offers easy access to nearby shopping. For everyday essentials and groceries, residents visit the Silver Springs Pointe and Rockwell Plaza shopping centers just 6 miles southeast. Between the two hubs there are several big box stores like Walmart and Sam’s Club. For more shopping, dining, culture and entertainment, Surrey Hills residents can take advantage of nearby downtown Yukon. At Little Mike’s Hamburgers, residents can get their fill of classic old fashioned burgers from the mom and pop shop that's been around since the 1970s. In the morning, Eggceptional Café has a full array of eggs, bacon and all the fixings. For sweet, flaky kolaches and savory sauerkraut and klobasa, Vladislava’s Czech Bakery & Café is on Main Street.

Czech Capital of Oklahoma

Popular for its unique blend of Czech and Western heritage, Yukon is known as the “Czech capital of Oklahoma.” Tourists traveling along Route 66 and Yukon natives alike flock to the state Czech Festival on the first Saturday in October every year to enjoy the parade, live music, local artists and craft booths.

High performing Yukon Schools

Surrey Hills residents are served by Yukon and Piedmont public schools. Some students begin at Surrey Hills Elementary School, moving on to Yukon Middle School and Yukon High School. All three schools are rated a B or better on Niche. Yukon High counts country music superstar Garth Brooks among its alumni. The school has won five softball state championships, most recently in 2010.

Northwest Expressway Corridor opens doors for commuters

Surrey Hills is located approximately 24 miles west of downtown Oklahoma City, with direct access via the Northwest Expressway. The Will Rogers World Airport is 22 miles south, offering service to several regional destinations.
