Community on Oregon City's upper terrace
Rivercrest sits on Oregon City's upper terrace where the river crests before heading down Willamette Falls, where a combination of volcanic eruptions and ice age floods cut three terraces into the land at the base. “It’s a really nice community, you’re close to downtown but are still a little further up the hill,” says Steve Seislove, A Realtor with John L Scott Real Estate Gold Properties, Lake Oswego, who sells homes in the area. It takes less than five minutes to reach Oregon City’s active downtown strip.

Homes built after the war
Stretching 330 acres along the northwest corner of the upper terrace, Rivercrest is filled with craftsman-style homes from the 1930s on the same blocks as minimalist traditional, ranch-style and split-level houses that were popular in the following decades. These homes sit on quarter-acre lots that leave space for a small front lawn, a driveway, and in most cases, an attached two-car garage. Sidewalks are less common in Rivercrest but minimal traffic allows residents to walk to nearby parks.
Single-family homes here range from $350,000 to $825,000, making the neighborhood more affordable than the average Oregon City neighborhood. Houses with recent renovations and over 2,000 square feet sell for between $600,000 and $800,000, while two-bedroom ranch-style homes can go for $350,000 to $550,000.

Trails, trees and places to roam
There are numerous parks in and surrounding Rivercrest’s residential streets, including Water Board Park, where visitors can take the paved path to an overlook featuring views of Willamette Falls. Rivercrest Park is home to a splash pad and a baseball field, while Singer Creek Park has a disc golf course and walking paths that wind between mature trees. “Walking through Singer Creek feels like taking a quiet stroll through the forest,” Seislove says.

14th and Washington and more
When it's time to stock up on groceries, residents head over to the Safeway at the Hilltop Mall shopping center. The shopping center is also home to Bugatti's Oregon City, where the huckleberry mule is just as popular as the fettuccine alfredo. There are breweries on the waterfront, including McMenamins Oregon City. At 14th and Washington, Oregon City Brewing Company hosts food trucks and provides outdoor seating space for its patrons. For a slightly different flavor, folks can head across the street for seafood at Tony’s.

Driving to Portland or Salem
Rivercrest has three major thoroughfares, Interstate 205, state Route 99E state Route 213. For those headed south to Canby or Salem, there’s OR-99E. For anyone headed further south near Mulino, a smaller town, Route 213 is the way to go. I-205 can get congested as one of the main arteries into Portland, particularly on weekday mornings and afternoons. "If you’re going south on I-205, it goes from five lanes to two lanes until you get right past the bridge over the Willamette,” Sieslove says.
Your morning commute from Rivercrest takes you across 99E.
