Sharon
Suburban Neighborhood in Orem, Utah
Utah County 84057
Relatively affordable Orem area homes with investment opportunity
Walking through the Sharon neighborhood, views of the mountains, ornamental trees and square, green lawns form the backdrop to a peaceful, tranquil way of life. Arrayed along lengthy, well-connected sidewalks, homebuyers can find a mix of housing options, ranging from duplexes and small apartment buildings to single-family homes. Expect to find long and narrow driveways, though some duplexes do include garage space. Ranch-style homes can be as small as 900 square feet, but what they lack inside is often made up with a larger yard. In terms of property values, the average sales price is about $465,000 and pricing starts as low as $215,000 for traditional townhouses, though this is the exception more than the rule; more common suburban-style cottage and ranch-style homes make up the majority of the housing stock and mostly sell for around $450,000 dollars, though more recently-built four-bedroom traditional homes with side garages can fetch prices of up to $625,000. Homes in Sharon are also renowned for their investment potential, as the neighborhood is full of relatively affordable homes that homebuyers who are excited to tackle a project can purchase and increase the value of. “A lot of homes in Sharon are pretty old because the same people lived in them for decades,” says Emerie Brooks, Listing Manager at Summit Realty Inc. “People who buy houses here are completely redoing them on the inside and making them more modern," Brooks says, explaining that "We have one family who recently bought a house, and they’ll send us pictures of updates they’re doing to show how different it looks from when they bought it.”Getting around the greater Provo area
Just six miles northwest of Provo and close to the city center of Orem, residents of Sharon are close to plenty of options for entertainment, work and food. With State Street forming the western border of the neighborhood, taking a drive or bike ride around town is just around the corner for many residents. To get to larger destinations like Salt Lake City, residents can head about 40 miles north along Interstate 15. When traveling out of the state, Provo Airport is located nearby and offers regional flights, while Salt Lake City International Airport can be found just northwest of the state capital's downtown area.Diverse shopping and dining along State Street
A plethora of local and chain businesses can be found dotted along State Street, right by Sharon. Arrive early at Maria Bonita, a Mexican grill that's notorious for long waits during its lunch and dinner rush, but residents can't help loving the restaurant's large portions of food that fly out of the kitchen in record time. One popular dish is their Molcajete. Served up in a sizzling stone bowl, this fan favorite delivers an aromatic experience with expertly prepared carne, shrimp, grilled cactus and queso. Apollo Burgers, a Utah-local chain that’s been serving charbroiled burgers since 1984, is another nearby option that prides itself on offering equally tasty and nutritious farm-fresh meals. Try the Apollo Burger; this quarter-pound ground beef patty is topped with smoked pastrami, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onions on a cornmeal-topped bun. Eating at home is also just as easy as eating out in Sharon; Smith’s Grocery is located along Center Street, and the neighborhood is a mere one block from Orem’s only Target. Big box retailers along University Parkway will help you cross off your shopping list, and more than 150 shops at University Place will round out any retail therapy needs residents may have; both are less than three miles south via State Street.Family-friendly parks nearby in Orem
For family-friendly fun outside, residents can head to the expansive All-Together Playground in City Center Park to find Wheelchair accessible swings, seesaws with chairs and extra wide ramps and walkways that ensure everyone has a place to play. Swings, swirly and straight slides and climbing structures are also mixed in so kids of all abilities can play in the same place. Live music entertains park-goers from the outdoor stage, and baseball fields, large pavilions and barbeque pits invite families to make a visit to City Center an all-day adventure. Or, grab some paddles and challenge friends or family to a game of pickleball in Sharon Park; the sport has become widely popular across Utah within the past few years. When winter rolls around this park is also a great local spot for snowtubing and sledding.Alpine District schools close to home

Events happen across Orem, but Sharon residents have a front-row seat to several events at City Center Park. festival-goers can put their iron stomachs to the test by plopping down for the hot dog and pie eating contests, or step into the spotlight after months of rehearsal during Orem’s Got Talent. Families can also enjoy quality time with rides, kids activities and live entertainment during Family Day.
