A community along the natural beauty of the Lehigh River
Found along the Lehigh River nearly dead-center between Bethlehem and Easton, Old Orchard's community stays deep-rooted. "I've lived here all my life. If you move here, people don't move out," says Lynne Kounoupis, Realtor at RE/MAX Unlimited Real Estate. "It's a little hidden treasure." The spacious, rural area of distinct homes is a huge draw, as is the proximity to ample green space, such as the D&L Trail and Lehigh Waterfall. Old Orchard maintains a calm atmosphere and is primarily residential, with large retail spots available within a 10-minute drive. Being just 6 miles from Bethlehem, residents also have quick access to year-round events and more extensive community gatherings.

The classic, unique architecture of Old Orchard
On the Lehigh River, Old Orchard lies about half an hour from Allentown. Being farther from the city, residents wind down curved roads and into tucked-away cul-de-sacs. Despite no sidewalks, taking a stroll on the wide streets is simple as they're majorly free from traffic. "It's a great neighborhood with houses spaced apart and a laidback, rural type of living," Kounoupis says. "Almost every house has a different layout and look to it. The different styles are what intrigues people about the neighborhood." With Old Orchard's more rural nature, homeowners often enjoy roomy lawns as an extra perk. A low-profile, ranch-style home may sell between $340,000 to $395,000, while a large Colonial Revival home with columns and a portico may range between $430,000 to $485,000.
Newer Modern Colonial homes can fetch $600,000.
Larger Modern Colonial homes in Old Orchard often contain four or more bedrooms.

Along Freemansburg Avenue are several retail pockets for residents to pop into for daily errands. Big-name stops such as Aldi, Lowe's, PNC Bank and more are all found within a 2-mile radius of each other. Local businesses are clustered between the chain brands, bringing in a personal flare for the neighborhood. At Amore Pizzeria, a little shop on Greenway Street, locals enjoy a thin, crispy crust as a base for the Italian-style pies. About a mile north on William Penn Highway, there are even more local eateries lining the road, from brunch at downhome Smile Café to the seafood dishes at Marblehead Chowder House.

Exploring the D&L Trail
"The D&L Trail runs behind the property where I live. The path can take you along the whole area with miles of dog walking and bike riding," Kounoupis says. On the D&L path, people enjoy scenic views of the Lehigh River and can even reach the Lehigh River Waterfall, a man-made dam. At Old Orchard Park, parents can bring kids to the playground where they can climb and slide for hours. It's also a great place for pick-up games on the basketball courts.

I must say we feel so safe in the area we are able to sit on the back deck with no worries of gun shots, or some coming up to you to rob you. The cops also drive by a few times a week so that makes us feel even safer.
