Locals primarily live in subdivisions

Hiawassee comprises several subdivisions developed across the 1980s through the early 21st century, so it's a bit newer than some neighboring communities. Nearly every resident lives in a subdivision like Hiawassee Oaks, Country Run or Kensington. Buyers will find many new traditional and contemporary homes that cost between $250,000 and $500,000. Most homes feature anywhere between 1,500 and 2,500 square feet with three to four bedrooms. Several residents have pools or are along the edge of Crooked Lake, offering many opportunities to beat the Florida heat. Almost every street in the community has a sidewalk, so locals are often out walking their dogs or enjoying a walk. Locals on a walk enjoy the natural shade of the towering oaks and palms that scatter the community.
