About 10 miles northwest of Orlando, the commuter neighborhood of Hiawassee features contemporary residential pockets embodying traditional suburban charm. Hiawassee comprises several subdivisions developed across the 1980s through the early 21st century, so it's a bit newer than some neighboring communities. Students kickstart their education at Prairie Lake Elementary School, which has a B-minus on Niche and a student-to-teacher ratio of 17-to-1. Students advance to Robinswood Middle School, which scored a C on Niche. Students proceed to Evans High School to earn their degrees. The high school has a robust Advanced Placement program, with courses like Spanish, Macroeconomics and Human Geography. Niche gave the school an overall B-minus.
When locals want to enjoy a day outside, there's much to explore across Northwestern Orlando. Residents often visit Lake Apopka, which has 20 miles of trails and a three-hour wildlife drive. Health Central Hospital of Orlando Health is about 7 miles away. The Orlando International Airport is about 26 miles away when locals need to catch a flight.
