A close-knit Reno suburb
With an abundance of vintage homes, proliferating plant life and a smalltown feel, Reno’s Mayberry neighborhood takes the close-knit ethos of the similarly named fictional community from “The Andy Griffith Show” and puts it at Reno’s western edge. Several homes sit along the winding Truckee River, while others feature manicured lawns and mature trees. Realtor Sandra Gabrielli of RE/MAX, herself a former resident of Mayberry, says, "Mayberry is in the heart of southwest Reno, a very desirable part of town, and it gives you access to everything. It's quiet, the houses are all so well maintained and the schools are exceptional." Mayberry combines suburban tranquility with proximity to downtown, just a 4-mile and 10-minute drive away, ensuring that homebuyers can easily access Reno’s main attractions while also enjoying as much tranquility as they desire.
Vintage housing and newer variety
Mayberry is one of Reno’s oldest neighborhoods, with many of its ranch-style homes built in the 1950s and 1960s. However, the 1980s and 1990s brought new life to Mayberry as larger houses with three-car garages were built, adding variety to the age, size and style of Mayberry’s housing inventory. Condos in the River Run community allow Mayberry residents to live along the Truckee River while also having access to a community pool and immediate proximity to a riverfront park. Mayberry's wooded terrain forms a major part of its appeal; Gabrielli says, "One of my favorite parts of Mayberry was coming down the hill from the grocery store: there's a beautiful view of all the trees." Homes in Mayberry vary in price from $395,000 to $540,000 for a condo and from $450,000 to $1 million for a single-family home.
It's nearly impossible to find a front yard without thoughtful landscaping in Mayberry.

Riverside recreation in Mayberry
Residents are never far from opportunities for outdoor recreation. In fact, Mayberry itself is home to three parks, two of which offer picturesque views of the Truckee riverbend. Gabrielli says, "You're so close to the river, and you can sit and relax in front of the river at Crissie Caughlin Park." This park includes riverfront pathways and a wooden bridge, allowing residents to walk parallel to both the river and the Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway. Likewise, Ivan Sack Park offers a flowery and rocky viewing points of the river, complete with a gazebo. At the western end of the neighborhood, the 30-acre Betsy Caughlin Donnelly Park is ideal for those who enjoy walking, jogging or trekking because it features lush landscapes, vistas of the Carson Range and an irrigated pasture that spans 20 acres. This park was previously a working ranch stretching around 6,000 acres and was established at the turn of the century.
