Once a bustling neighborhood next to the Genesee River, beginning in the 1950s, Edgerton has become less so, partially because of the removal of most public transportation and the demolishing of the Edgerton Park Arena, once home to Rochester’s hockey and basketball teams. Nowadays, public transportation is limited to three bus lines, two that border the neighborhood east and west and one that runs right through the middle. While Edgerton has become less visited over the years, residents in the neighborhood are only two miles away from downtown Rochester and attractions such as the Strong National Museum of Play, which claims to be one of the largest museums in the United States and the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of play.
If you are looking for city amenities, Rochester downtown isn't far from Edgerton.
