Some of Florida’s earliest history
Named after large mound complex that served as a village for the Indigenous Tocobaga, who inhabited the land centuries ago, Jungle Prada’s name is also an indication of the kind of views you can expect to see in the neighborhood—lush, vibrant, and green. “What I love about these older, historic Florida neighborhoods are the trees,” says Brandon Rimes, Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, longtime resident of the area, and host of the “Quarterback Consumer” radio show in the Tampa Bay area. “There’s an almost enchanting canopy of trees that just adds such an incredible ambience.” With its historic vibes, stunning natural beauty, and convenient access to St. Petersburg, the Jungle Prada neighborhood is an attractive option for those looking to own in a unique, exciting location.

Old-school style meets exciting new development
“This is one of the oldest areas in the state and the architecture reflects that,” says Rimes. “You have a lot of differentiation in the types of architectural styles.” Among the neighborhood’s tree-lined streets, a variety of established homes with old-school charm reside—from spacious ranch style homes to bungalows and split levels with Mediterranean accents. These more established homes also often feature unique custom remodels that lend the streetscape an artistic flair. Prices for these styles range from $375,000 to $800,000. Newer, larger homes are located on the waterfront as part of the Boca Ciega Bay and along historic Park Street (which is still paved with its original bricks). These homes typically list between $800,000 and $1.4 million, though especially impressive estates can exceed values of $6 million.

See where Panfilo de Narvaez landed in 1528
Known for its history, the area celebrates and makes efforts to preserve it every chance it can—including with its parks. Jungle Prada Narvaez Park is a waterfront site believed to be the landing spot for the Spanish explorer Panfilo de Narvaez in 1528. Now, the park features a boat ramp and is a popular spot for watching sunsets. The main attraction of the park, however, is the historian-guided tour of the Anderson Mound—where wild peacocks are likely to join you as you learn the hidden history of St. Petersburg and its original inhabitants. Jungle Prada is also home to one of St. Petersburg’s many community gardens, with the Azalea Community Garden being larger than most. Beach access is also right there, with Treasure Island reachable by boat or by the nearby causeway.

Travel to Treasure Island or find your own treasure at Tyrone Square Mall
In addition to its plethora of beach activities, nearby Treasure Island also features a happening “downtown” area with shops, restaurants, and event centers. “One of the benefits of living in Jungle Prada is being so close to all the attractions in addition to the beach,” says Rimes. “Treasure Island, in particular, is a really fun place to be—there’s so much to do outside of just the typical beach day.” Across from Jungle Prada Narvaez Park is Jungle Prada Tavern, a local favorite with history of its own—originally beginning as a speakeasy in 1925. Tyrone Square Mall is just minutes from the neighborhood and satisfies just about any shopping need residents may have, while also featuring a number of spots to grab a bite to eat in its food court.
