Riverview balances the convenience of city life in San Bernardino with natural beauty and tranquility. Boasting stunning views of the San Bernardino Mountains, the neighborhood’s wide sidewalks soak up the California sun year-round. Just off the Redlands Freeway, the community offers a mix of businesses, residential homes, recreational areas and schools. “This accessibility of jobs, the school district and access to the freeway are three of the main things that bring people to this area,” says Realtor Viorel Gherghelah with Keller Williams Realty.

Riverview allows residents to live, shop, work and play along its palm-tree-lined streets. In typical Californian style, many homes take inspiration from Mediterranean and Spanish architecture with smooth stucco exteriors and red roof tiles. These features can be found on ranch-style homes and bungalows, with many also including unique details like brick-framed wrought-iron fences. Behind these fences, many homes have flowering trees, grapefruit and orange bushes. Here, homebuyers can purchase a four-bedroom bungalow for about $500,000 to $700,000 or a two-bedroom ranch-style home for around $275,000 to $400,000.

Across the freeway, residents can relax at picnic tables and benches in the shade of towering oak trees at Elmer Digneo Park. Here, one can play a game of basketball on the park’s half-court, swing on the park’s swing sets or simply watch the train pass by on the nearby Southern Pacific Railroad tracks , which believe it or not, is indeed a pastime for many residents. Families can also choose to stay close to home and walk to the neighborhood’s own Victoria Park.

The region’s cultural and natural history are on display at the San Bernardino County Museum with interactive exhibits, like the live-animal center and cactus gardens. Just three miles from Riverview, the museum frequently holds community events, including its annual fundraising gala and live auction.

Ranked the second-best school district in San Bernardino County by Niche, The Redlands Unified School District attracts families to the neighborhood. Younger kids in Riverview are steps away from Victoria Elementary School, located in the heart of the community, which earned a B rating from Niche. Many of the older children in the area attend Beattie Middle School, which earned an A-minus rating from Niche, before attending Redlands Senior High School, which earned an A rating from Niche. Private school options include Loma Linda Academy, earning an A-minus from Niche and serving grades K-12. The school offers a highly rated Technology, Innovation and Engineering program, designed to prepare students for a career in technology.

Riverview is a haven for shopping and dining, with many stores just a short walk from your doorstep. Stock up on basics at Todd’s Market, a small convenience store serving the neighborhood, or head to the Mt. View Centre to get your hair cut at the Luxury Monarch Salon. For the rest of your shopping needs, the Hospitality Lane District, a popular business district with retail, nightlife and dining options, is only a mile away. For groceries, stop by Aldi or Costco. If you don’t feel like cooking, head to the Shiki Sushi Teppan BBQ and Sports Bar and enjoy Japanese food while watching your favorite game. Across the freeway, Masala Indo-Pak Cuisine serves various Indian and Pakistani dishes in a cozy, romantic environment.

The nearby Loma Linda University Medical Center also brings people to Riverview. “There are a lot of jobs there. A lot of people in the neighborhood work for the hospital,” says Gherghelah. As the site of the first proton unit used for cancer treatments and the first infant heart transplants in the world, patients travel from around the world for treatment.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
