Old world charm in the modern age
Golden Hill is one of San Diego's most sought-after neighborhoods, surrounded by historic homes, a prestigious park and exciting dining options. "Golden Hill is a historic area with many established properties. The community has a lot of beauty," says Realtor Kathy Grust with The STOZ Group, boasting over 25 years of real estate experience. The metro neighborhood touches the city's oldest, most beloved Balboa Park, and locals are only 2 miles from downtown. In this pedestrian-friendly part of San Diego, residents enjoy views of century-old buildings and retro dining options close to home. The Greater Golden Hill Community Planning Group is devoted to preserving the area's history while promoting accessibility through affordable housing.

Victorians and other homes decorate the street
Known for its one-of-a-kind architecture, official city documents from 1978 state that "experimentation was the hallmark of the turn of the century architecture, and it was during this period" that Golden Hill began to display a "certain American confusion of taste." The neighborhood contains a collection of longstanding dwellings from across the last century. "Golden Hill has a number of detached homes; many are Victorians from the 1900s. Buyers can take advantage of the Mills Act program to restore historic properties through a tax incentive," Grust says. Although the area showcases many styles, some of the most prominent are California bungalows, Craftsman influences and postmodern designs. Condos enter the market from $400,000 to $650,000, while detached homes value anywhere between $750,000 and $1.8 million.
