Noe Valley shines through
While it may be less than two miles from downtown San Francisco, Noe Valley is not overshadowed by its larger neighbor to the north. In fact, it has a style all its own. “Noe Valley is like a small village,” says Lamisse Droubi, a Realtor with Generation Real Estate. "The people that live there are really invested in the neighborhood, and there’s a real collective feeling of wanting to keep it safe and clean." From its unique collection of local shops and restaurants to its community events and beautiful parks, Noe Valley is one to call home.
The colorful small businesses of Noe Valley
For breakfast, diners can head to small neighborhood spot Diamond Café for crepes or Vive La Tarte for unique handmade pastries like Turmeric Monkey Bread. For an elegant night out, Novy – its name coming in from the of the Noe Valley district - fuses the flavors of Greek and California cuisine. Groceries can be picked up at Whole Foods or historic corner store Delores Deluxe, which has been serving the area for over 100 years. Lots of small businesses call Noe Valley home. Omnivore Books on Food, an independent bookshop specializing in cookbooks and Noe Valley Pet Company are both owned by local Celia Stack, who speaks fondly about the community she finds among her customers. “We stock new and vintage books on food and hold author events. People get really excited to see a famous chef or author giving a talk and a lot of them go to both stores. It’s a very tight-knit community. I love it because people are so friendly and nice and respectful of our employees. It’s a real sort of neighborhood in that way,” she says.
