Wild Peach is a rural community between Houston and San Antonio, and 25 miles north of the Texas coastline on the Gulf of Mexico, that offers respite from the busy city streets. Some of the neighborhood experienced flooding as a result of Hurricane Harvey in 2017, but the area has since recovered, and improved water drainage systems are coming down the pipe.

You’ll want to have a car living in Wild Peach, as its rural layout adds some distance between places of interest. Several major roads like Highways 35 and 36 are nearby, offering connections to get to the rest of the surrounding area, and can get you to downtown Houston in an hour. Wild Peach’s rural streetscape offers plenty of privacy with dense forests, grassy plains and large lot sizes taking up most of the area. Homes here include ranches and traditionals from the late 20th century with brick and vinyl siding. These houses typically sit on at least an acre of land and can include long driveways and multi-car garages. Homes here typically sell for between $300,000 to $500,000, while homes along the San Bernard River usually sell for between $600,000 to $700,000.

The Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District serves the neighborhood’s students, and all three schools offered earn a B-minus rating from Niche. Kids may start at Wild Peach Elementary School before transitioning to West Brazos Junior High School. Students may then attend Columbia High School, which offers unique clubs and activities like the Columbia cook-off team, Future Farmers of America and the livestock club.

If you’re looking to enjoy the outdoors away from home, you can visit the Hanson Riverside County Park at the north end of Wild Peach. This 75-acre park has multiple trails that run through its lush woods filled with native hardwood trees. You also have access to a boat launch on the San Bernard River, a pier, picnic area and playground. There’s also the West Brazos Golf Center, a popular course in the area with nine holes, a pro shop and events scheduled regularly. If you’re looking for an indoor attraction for the day, the Brazos Mall has an Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, which offers climbing walls, a ropes course and virtual reality experiences.

For grocery needs, Dollar General and the Krunchy Korner convenience store are your closest options. Driving six miles north on Highway 36 will take you to an H-E-B supermarket and chain restaurants, while driving 4 miles south on Highway 36 takes you to Stewart’s Food Store and Buc-ee's. For additional retailers, you can drive 11 miles east to Brazos Mall for clothing shops, department stores and jewelry stores. Nearby Brazos Mall, you’ll also find several more grocery stores, home improvement stores and pet supply shops. There are several popular local restaurants nearby, including Margarita Jones Tex-Mex, a vibrant Mexican restaurant that hosts live music every Wednesday night. You can also try 421 Coffeehouse & Bistro, which offers a variety of coffees, teas, sandwiches and pastries.

If you want a quiet community with favorably-rated schools that offers privacy and larger lot sizes, Wild Peach may be the neighborhood you’re looking for.
