Long Hill is split into three communities, each with its own train station and personality. Sitting around 20 miles from Newark and just an hour-long train ride from New York City, Long Hill allows for an escape from the busyness of its neighbors at the end of the day. “This is the kind of place where kids grow up, leave, and then come back to a few years later,” says Theresa Filippone, real estate agent with Coldwell Banker and longtime resident of the area. “It’s charm really grabs a hold of people.” Homes in Long Hill, regardless of which of the three communities is in question, reflect an old-school, historic character. Colonials and ranch styles are most common, with traditional styles making up nearly all the inventory. “Long Hill is very sought-after,” says Filippone. “The problem is, the inventory just doesn’t match the interest – people hold on to their homes here.” Ranch style builds typically start at around $425,000, while prices for large custom builds or homes built before the 20th century can reach as high as $1.2
