Moses Lake is more than a serpentine lake in Central Washington. It’s a community founded on farmland, surrounded by history and dedicated to continuing its creativity. “We’re a community that has so much sunshine, over 300 days. People love coming for our recreation options. There’s the lake, hiking trails, an off-roading area, an aquatic center... and in the winter, we have a hockey rink,” says Ann Schempp, Curator of the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center. In addition to various exhibits, the museum showcases a giant Columbian Mammoth sculpture made from farm equipment. “The Columbian Mammoth is our state fossil, and the sculpture combines art, history and agriculture, just like the city. We even dress it up for holidays sometimes,” says Schempp. There’s a technology component to Moses Lake, as well.
