A census-designated place in Rockland County, Nanuet is a diverse community of about 20,000 people located about 32 miles north of New York City. Renee Ocher, an associate broker with Keller Williams Commercial who’s served the area for decades, says that Nanuet has a variety of offerings. “Our housing ranges from affordable to higher end, we have all kinds of houses of worship, and we’re seeing everyone from the young families to retirees move here,” Ocher says. The varied range of people makes for an engaged, active place to live. Most of Nanuet’s houses were built in the mid-to-late 20th century; single-family homes on peaceful, residential streets tend to be Colonial Revivals, ranches, cottages and split-levels. “Nanuet also has the largest townhouse community in Rockland, with about 1,200 units,” Ocher says. “It spans from one to three bedrooms, and prices go anywhere between $300,000 and $650,000.” The median sale price for a single-family home in Nanuet is around $705,000, far above the national median.
