Why Live in Pooler

About 10 miles west of Savannah and 15 miles from the South Carolina border, Pooler has experienced rapid growth in the past 25 years. The city’s population surged from about 6,000 in 2000 to 19,000 in 2010 to roughly 29,500 today.  Much of that increase is due to large companies that have moved in, including Gulfstream Aerospace, which designs and manufactures business jets, and Hyundai, whose new plant is scheduled to open in 2025. Other major industries in the city are educational services, retail and health care, which includes a new Memorial Health campus in Pooler set to open in the fall of 2025. The city also benefits from easy access to two interstates, 95 and 16, and proximity to the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, less than 5 miles away. The City of Pooler’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan aims to address its exponential growth, including outlining future land use for residential and commercial development and expanding city parks and trails.
