Historic Elmwood offers convenience and many Providence landmarks within reach
Stepping on the streets of Elmwood is like having a front-row seat to an architecture tour of Providence. The historic district, filled with tightly packed houses built mostly between 1845 and 1930, reflects the evolving architectural tastes of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Jeffrey Infante, a 13-year real estate agent with the Divine Group of Century 21 Limitless, says, “There's been new construction in the area; most homes are older from the 1900s or so. A little area called the Historic District has lots of landmarks and attractions.”
Century-old homes and multi-family properties
Residences in Elmwood range from $200,000 to over $800,000. There are numerous Italianate homes, Queen Annes, Colonial Revivals and Tudors preserved in a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Homeowners can put some elbow grease in a fixer-upper or invest in already-occupied rental properties for a piece of the neighborhood pie. Infante says, “Elmwood has a lot of multi-family properties, which many owners rent units out of.”
