Abbie has traveled around the world and believes Portsmouth is the best place to live, and she is happy to talk about why! A 5th generation resident of Portsmouth where she has lived since 2000, Abbie is truly an expert in the Seacoast, having grown up in both Stratham and Exeter before graduating from Exeter High School in 1995.
Abbie’s Seacoast roots run deep as both of her parents, three grandparents and a couple great-grandparents all graduated from Portsmouth High School over the years. Her paternal grandparents owned and operated Carlisle Cleaners, a much loved dry cleaning business, in York Village; and her maternal grandfather, Richard “Dick” Maddock, was a beloved Portsmouth police officer.
After high school, Abbie continued on to Boston University’s College of Communication, and then launched a career in high technology sales. Abbie met her husband while selling software in 2003, and they moved briefly to his hometown of Siesta Key in Sarasota, FL. A favorite Florida saying is that each day is “just another day in Paradise,” but Abbie’s Paradise includes cross-country skiing, hiking and beautiful foliage, so she and her husband moved back to Portsmouth after a mere six months!
Shortly after her return to NH, Abbie decided to start her own business. An adventure enthusiast with an entrepreneurial spirit and three young kids, Abbie wanted to help families traveling with children, so she started a baby equipment rental company servicing the NH and Southern Maine Seacoast, called “Ciao Baby Equipment Rentals.” Abbie had a blast growing the business for several years before selling it to concentrate on real estate.
Abbie’s love for, and unique knowledge of, the greater Seacoast area translated perfectly to a career in real estate, in which Abbie has been solely focused since 2013. Abbie loves helping buyers and sellers achieve their real estate goals, and is licensed in both New Hampshire and Maine.
She is very proud to work closely as a team with her business partner, Saija DiGesu. Together they have nearly 30 years’ experience helping people buy and sell in the Seacoast. Abbie and Saija are passionate about providing the highest level of customer care and service, and believe offering representation by two experienced and accessible real estate specialists is a huge value to their clients.
Abbie lives in Portsmouth’s Little Harbor neighborhood with her husband, Chris, a charcoal grill devotee; their briard dog, Louie; and their three daughters, Jonah (20—a junior at CUNY’s Hunter College in NYC), Charlotte (15), and Francis (13). A little-known fact about Abbie is that she worked on Mt. Washington in college. Her favorite route to the summit is via the Glen Boulder Trail and Boott Spur. She’d love to know what your favorite hike is!
