Alexander Monticello helped us sell our Clifton Park home (Same one that we bought using Alexander Monticello in 2013). We have a lot of realtor friends (including Christian realtor friends), but our experience buying our house with Alex was so good that we opted to work with him again (see my review from 2013 below). I'm not going to lie, I had my reservations because Alex Monticello was not as popular as he is today when we bought our house in 2013, so I assumed he wouldn't give us the same degree of care, but I was incorrect.
We were extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Alex Monticello once more. As our realtor, he assisted us in setting a price for our property and provided us with clear explanations on how to avoid overpriced and unjustifiable homes in the present market. He was excellent at advising us on areas where we needed to make repairs or pay attention before putting the house on the market.
He was patient as we pushed the days for putting the house on the market and was always very courteous in informing us that we didn't need to rush. In summary, he was constantly on our side, trying to make the sale go as smoothly as possible. Working with Alex was a pleasure because he was always more concerned with answering our concerns, providing sound advice, and determining what would work for us than he was on closing a deal. He is a realtor we would recommend to everyone. Once we were on the market, everything was seamless, and our home sold in 1 days for above the asking price (the best part was that we didn't even have to be present during the entire process; he handled everything after the house was on the market).

Review 2013: My wife and I recently purchased a home with Alex. We were first time home buyers and having Alex by our side was a plus as he is extremely knowledgeable about the field. His experience shows. It took us almost a six months to find our home and Alex was very patient with us throughout. He was always available to see homes on very short notice and usually had good comments to offer. Alex is very easy to talk to and pleasant to work with. He is very tech savvy as well, and was very responsive to our e-mails and calls. He also went out of his way to help us out when we needed him after we purchased the house, which is something most agents probably wouldn't do. When we timidly started going to open houses in search of our first house, Monticello always had the houses we liked. After meeting Alex and seeing his intelligent, professional and kind approach, we knew he would be a great agent for us.

Buying a house in the middle of a pandemic is really as challenging as it sounds. Alex and his team made everything as smooth as possible, helping us navigate in person and Zoom showings! Alex is the best realtor we've ever worked with. We've bought 3 homes, sold 2 homes, and worked with 4 other realtors. Alex provided service far above anyone else we've worked with. Alex was always available, he even called us when when he was traveling oversees. Sometimes it felt like he was working full-time for just us. We weren't able to travel from Texas to NY to look at houses with him, but between his amazing help and relatives in the area, we were are able to find a great house. It didn't stop after we closed. After we moved in, we were having trouble with our air conditioning system and I emailed him over the weekend to see if he could help us figure out from the previous owner who installed the system. He actually called me immediately even though it was the weekend and got me the information I needed right away. If we ever need realtor services again, we won't even consider anyone else. If you are looking to sell your home, do yourself a favour and talk to Alex. From our first meeting, we were struck by Alex’s professionalism and preparedness. He brought research and comparables for us, and gave us great advice on staging our home before we had even signed on with him. He knew the market extremely well and helped us price our house right.

Even though our house was far from the most expensive property Alex works with, he and his team treated it as if it were a million dollar listing. Jon, Alex’s in house photographer did an amazing job photographing our house, took drone photos of the property, and created a wonderful 3D walkthrough scan of the house. He even came out on a holiday to ensure we had the best light possible for showcasing our home.

Both Alex and Bridget the Director of Operations were very communicative with us and helped arrange things for us that we were unable to do after moving out of state. Any questions we had throughout the whole process were answered fully and quickly, which made an inherently stressful situation much less so. We were given regular updates on the progress of the sale and what to expect next. After working with Alex, we would have no qualms in recommending him to friends and family.

As a first-time home buyer, I was fortunate to have met Alex through a friend. Two days before going on a three-week vacation outside the country, I called Alex and told him what I had in mind, asking him to keep an eye out while I was away. Instead, Alex said he had just the place I was looking for and we could take a look the next morning. He was right - the lovely condo checked every one of my "boxes" and some more. We made an offer and got my mortgage application started on the spot! Before I left for my trip two days later, we'd had our offer accepted, mortgage pre-approved, lawyer hired, and inspection scheduled. My family uses Alex for all of their real estate needs.

So when it was time for me to start a family and buy a house, of course we asked him to be our agent.

And the whole process was a breeze.

Alex helped us look at maybe half a dozen houses and he was always on time, helpful, and knowledgeable about what was going on in the market.

We had seen homes on our street go on the market with other agents with no results. When he became the agent, the homes sold! Alex knows Albany, knows real estate, knows agents in the area and beyond.

Before we hit the market, he had the best advice on how to stage our home. He is straightforward and honest. He will not sugar coat things or say what you want to hear if it isn’t true. The photos, video and virtual tour were incredible. They made us sad to be selling the house because it looked so amazing in the listing!

He knows the best timing for listing, advertising, posting on Facebook, open houses, price adjustments. To say he is generous with his time would be an understatement. September 20, 2017 was the closing of the sale of the house in Clifton Park, NY my sister and I bought for our parents over 13 years ago, when our parents were still living. After they passed away we kept the property as a rental. When we decided to sell the property this year, I interviewed candidate real estate agents on the phone. Alexander Monticello seemed to be the right choice, and he proceeded to prove it. We asked him to visit the property and make recommendations to improve its sale-ability. He did and his information was pertinent and extremely helpful. For example, he noticed the circuit breaker panel in the basement was one that had been faulty enough to have led to a lawsuit against the manufacturer, and he said it would raise a red flag in front of any buyer's qualified home inspector. We had the circuit box replaced. Alex made several other recommendations and we followed each one. He revisited the property and listed it for sale. Alex uses a professional photographer and is connected to Zillow, so properties he lists are advertised with appeal. There is a constant feedback from Alex and Zillow via e-mail to report showing appointments. We had competing offers on our property within 10 days after it was listed and advertised. Alex made all the right moves to secure a contract above our list price ... and it sold for that price. My husband and I had researched a few agents in the capital region to sell our 3 year old colonial home in Colonie. Alex came to our house for our first appointment during a big snow storm. Alex was well prepared with comps and eagerly answered every question my husband and I had. Our house was only on the market for three weeks with one week we really didn't count because of all the snow storms. Alex did an amazing job throughout the entire sale of our home. I was impressed by Alex the first time I saw one of his listings on its own site with a vanity URL. When we hired him to sell our house I continued to be impressed, especially by how he uses digital technologies to market and manage his sales. All the documents, including all those I needed to sign, were digital (e-signatures). This was an extreme help to me, because I live 150 miles from the house he was selling for me, but it also just reflects that he understand how to sell in this day and age. His suggestion for a listing price was also spot on. We sold about two months after we listed, and the bank underwriting our buyers' mortgage valued our home at almost exactly what we listed for. We had the opportunity to work with Alex for a second time when a job change/relocation required us to list our house about 13 months after we purchased it. My wife and I called up Alex, he came over, and we sat around the dining room table mapping out the schedule, price, and task list for the sale. As this was our first home sale as well, we leaned on Alex for most of our guidance. Beneficially, he gave us suggestions on which house projects to finish (and which to skip) to maximize the bottom line. It must've worked, as we ultimately sold the house for a price that we were happy with!

Throughout the process I appreciated how Alex remained on top of everything and made sure we hit each task/deadline. I never felt like I had to worry, which was a big help given my crazy work schedule. In other words, it felt like we were his only clients at the time (even though we knew that wasn't true).

As far as recommending him to others - of course. We used Alex twice and would do it again. And although I don't have experience working directly with any other agents/brokers in the Albany area, what seems to set Monticello LREB apart is 1) service to the client, 2) a genuine interest in Albany (I can't tell you the number of times I texted him for a restaurant or store recommendation), and 3) commitment to growing a business the right way - with an emphasis on quality and building a solid foundation.

Finally, its been said before, but the photos and website are clearly better than anything else around. He's gonna make your house look great, which translates to page views, which translates to foot traffic, which translates to offers.

My wife, young daughter and I give Alex Monticello the highest recommendation to anyone who is looking to buy or sell a home in the Capital region. We began our house hunting process in June 2014 as we contemplated moving to the Albany area from the lower Hudson Valley region. Though both my wife and I had some experience working in the area, the Capital region was a relatively foreign place for us. We began the process with some reservations, a hint of anxiety (and then some), and time constraints. To complicate the matter, we had a tight window to find and close on a house so that I could start my new job in January 2015. Enough about us. Here is why Alex gets our highest recommendation.

Alex's knowledge of the market conditions, nuances of different neighborhoods, quality of the school districts, styles of homes, and watchful eye for potential issues that we came across during our initial viewings became invaluable assets during the process. Complimenting his professional expertise as a broker, Alex approaches his craft with the kind of personal touch that nervous, first-time homebuyers needed. A good analogy is finding a great doctor who is both the best at his/her profession and has an unsurpassed bedside manner. In our opinion, a great real estate broker has both of these qualities.

Honestly, neither my wife nor I knew exactly what we were looking for. We had a budget, a preference in the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the desire to be relatively close to Albany, but needed a decent size backyard for our daughter. Other than that, we learned our preferences along with Alex as we went along. Alex was patient as we looked at dozens of homes and started checking and crossing off our preferences. He remembered all of our preferences as we went from house to house and neighborhood to neighborhood. Throughout it all, we were very happy with Alex's ability to recall what we liked in each house that we looked at, but also what we didn't like about others. At a certain point, we had looked at so many houses that we were uncertain if we were being too picky about the negatives, and if we would ever find our dream home. Oftentimes, Alex's upbeat personality and patient, yet diligent, approach helped us to maintain the same positive approach until we found our home.

Once we were ready to make an offer, Alex prepared us for the next phase of the house hunt. He explained the whole process from start to finish, kept us apprised of every new development, gave us helpful pointers and suggestions, answered endless questions from me (the neurotic husband) via email and phone, and helped carry us past the finish line. Furthermore, Alex's referrals for an attorney, insurance agent, loan officer (for the mortgage), inspector, and all the other parties involved in the final process were equally professional, knowledgeable, and pleasures to work with.

As first time sellers we knew almost nothing about he process and Alex did a great job of walking us through it, including determining the right price for our house and marketing the house online to find the right buyer. I was especially impressed with his availability and responsiveness. Our phone calls were always returned and emails answered quickly. I also appreciated his honest assessment of the house we were selling and his knowledge of the real estate market in Albany.

Alex Monticello was exceptionally helpful throughout the entire process of buying our home. He was consistently professional, detail oriented, patient and honest.

Alex showed us dozens of homes including brownstones and one family houses in multiple neighborhoods in the Capital Region over the course of a year before we finally decided to make an offer on a home. When we first started working with Alex, we had not yet made a decision on whether to buy or rent our next home. Throughout the process, Alex never pressured us to buy and he showed us a level of responsiveness and availability that many agents would have reserved for more active buyers.

Additionally, as first time homebuyers, we entered our search with very limited knowledge of the process of buying a home. Alex went above and beyond to share his expertise on home buying, valuation and negotiation. I honestly couldn't imagine a better agent. We recently used Alex to buy a house in downtown Albany. Alex was knowledgeable, available, helpful, professional, and everything else you'd want in an agent. What really set Alex apart for me though was his easygoing brand of honesty and integrity. In an industry where the incentives are aligned such that it is easy to question the motives of your agent, it was always clear that Alex's only concern was that we were comfortable and happy about the process and our decision. Alex asked us questions and listened, never pressured or pushed us, and was available with impeccable advice whenever we needed it.

Obviously making such a large purchase can be a stressful experience. Alex helped narrow down options, provided market insight, and walked me through every step of the process. Alex was our real estate agent for our first-time home purchase in Albany, NY in August 2013. We have nothing but great things to say about Alex. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, low stress, easy to get along with, and very easy to get ahold of. When time came to put in an offer, he helped us negotiate a price that was lower than we thought we would get. We used his recommendations for lawyer and bank, and had really good experiences with both. It's hard to imagine a better experience. Often when I see this many five star reviews, I'm skeptical, but Alex really is dedicated to (and good at) his job.

Also, we chose him because we liked that he is based in Albany, and he donated 10% of his profits from our sale to the Capital District Community Gardens (a nonprofit that brings fresh produce and community gardening to underserved populations in the area). We listed with Monticello in early 2013, and simultaneously used Alexander as our buyer's agent in finding a larger home. The entire experience was excellent. Alexander is so far ahead of the local competition in terms of technology. He understands that today, virtually all potential buyers do their own research in the internet. He promptly bought an easy-to-remember web address for our property, and began to aggressively market it to maximize search engine exposure and potential traffic. He designed a beautiful web site, and his photographer was amazing. He worked hard to get our listing in front of as many people as possible, including the "house of the week" on the Times Union.
Knowing that we wanted to move as quickly as possible, Alexander scheduled multiple open houses, and showed the house several times per week. Ultimately, the market dictated a price drop (also we were under contract to buy our new home), and Alexander sold the house 24 hours later.
As our buyers' agent, Alexander was patient, flexible, and logical. I can only imagine how annoying and picky we were. After touring dozens of "wrong" properties, Alexander found us the perfect home. Alexander handled the price negotiations like the attorney he is, and was able to get us a very fair price, with enough of a time cushion to sell our home. He accompanied us to inspections, and bent over backwards to make the experience easy on us.
Alexander Monticello / Monticello LRB was the best choice, and we could not recommend him more highly. Alexander is very smart, very prepared, and overall a class act. We very much appreciate all he did. Thankfully he found us our dream home, so we will not be buying anything in the near future, but anyone looking to buy or sell in the Capital District should Alexander Monticello their first call.

As a foreigner, it is of course a big challenge to purchase a house in the US as there are many obstacles and uncertainty that keep us from making a good decision. Especially, finding a house that is perfect for my family is the most difficult task since we Koreans lack local real estate knowledge. That is why we need a very smart, proactive and faithful realtor to help us out. But most Koreans (well not all) like to get a super fast feedback on their inquires, especially if those inquires are related to the real estate. I would like to suggest Alexander Monticello as the key realtor who can work for the internationally relocated (Korean) families. Alexander is fast in searching properties and giving real-time feedback, he shares reports of a specific properties, he answers whenever we need him, works on weekends (and weekdays as well), able to facilitate the process by using internet-based inventory search and automatic notification when new property pops up, is well equipped with financial and legal knowledge regarding real-estate and also does not hesitate to advise any potential risks and provide us with many Korean community-related information! I really cannot list the whole merit that Alexander has and I just want others to know that the biggest stress lies upon us, apart from everything, is getting a good house with a faithful, trust-worthy realtor, and I strongly recommend Alexander Monticello.

Excellent agent. Really paid attention to what we were looking for in a house and showed us only houses that met out criteria. He devoted a ton of time on the weekends to show us literally dozens of homes. Nuts and bolts he is the most patient real estate agent I've ever worked with. When we finally found the right house he was fantastic during the negotiation process.

As far as real estate agents go, Alex will give you the professionalism and devotion that you will not find from one of the "big box stores." He offers personalized service at every single stage of the process. All that and his website is FAR easier to navigate and use than the others.
