Amanda Keady

Life is a series of adventures—full of opportunities and memories to be made! Living in Brookings is the most recent turn in my journey. I moved here in 2018 with my second husband, who grew up on the Oregon Coast, and we began our empty-nest adventure by the sea.

I grew up in Missouri and Oklahoma and have always enjoyed the outdoors—hiking, riding horses, exploring. My path took me to Florida’s Space Coast as I finished my degree at UCF in Orlando, and it eventually returned me to Oklahoma. Twelve years and three remarkable children later, I was off on another adventure to Reno, Nevada, where I developed a love for mountains and Lake Tahoe and golden retrievers. After fifteen years in the high desert, life brought me to the stunning Oregon coast.

In the midst of so many contrasting changes has always been the desire to help others improve their skills and be ready for the next step. Along with being Mom to three ever-curious children, I spent sixteen years in the classroom, teaching middle school and high school English as well as advising yearbook staffs. The best memories are the “light-bulb” moments—students’ faces lighting up with excitement after they’ve worked through the challenges then made meaningful connections and discoveries. Into my real estate adventure, I’ve taken my strengths from the classroom and transformed them into different ways to contribute to my community. Navigating the details and choices of home-buying and home-selling is challenging and often stressful, and my role is to attentively and knowledgably support clients to ensure their faces light up on achieving their goals.

For me, the southern Oregon coast offers so many memories to be made! Adventure and beauty await along coastal hiking trails, among the giant redwoods, up the rivers, and out into the Pacific. I never tire of watching the sunset colors over the ocean, smiling as I realize that I’m actually seeing the brilliant array of colors that I had only seen before in pictures. Enjoying the small pleasures in life—like watching an old Goldie gleefully chase seagulls along the beach or contentedly sipping a glass of Tempranillo from an Applegate Valley winery—make the journey rewarding.
